Abstract:
A conveyor roll assembly (1) for use at high temperature comprising a) a ceramic spool (2) having a flexural strength of at least 15 MPa and an external diameter D and, b) a torque transmission and support means (3) of a general cylindrical shape and having a longitudinal axis, comprising a body and b1. a supporting portion comprising at least one cylindrical supporting surface (10) and, b2.a connecting portion that is mechanically and resiliently deformed, comprising at least two distinct connecting surfaces, frictionally connecting the torque transmission and support means (3) to the ceramic spool (2), characterized in that at least one end of the ceramic spool has an axial, centered bore of a diameter 10mm ≤ d ≤ 3/4 D, preferably ≤ 1/3D and a depth Dd ≥1.5 d and in that the torque transmission and support means (3) is provided in the at least said bore of the ceramic spool (2).
Abstract:
The present invention describes a roll for use in glass manufacture, especially non- dusting TFT glass. The roll may include a hollow fused silica cylinder. End caps are mechanically fixed to the roll. Pulling flats are fixed in place by inner and outer end plates. A compression fitting secures at least the outer end plate to the roll. The roll may be reinforced with an internal metal rod that is secured to the shaft by a plurality of supports. The supports accommodate differences in thermal expansion.
Abstract:
Rolls for generally conveying sheets, such as of steel or glass over a roller typically have a steel mandrel and fiber-containing roll cover, with the fiber roll cover pressed between end plates. In a roll end assembly including the end plates there is now provided and axial shaft beyond the end plate. The shaft incorporates a roll compression means. The compression means includes a compression element which element engages the end plate. Pressure from the compression means, which may be exerted from beyond the shaft, can thereby be transmitted to the fiber roll.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a roller from a refractory material, for example in vitreous silica, for transporting a flat article provided at its end with a new arrangement for rotationally driving it as well as to an assembly of such a roller and its driving device. This roller comprises an external surface and two side surfaces, at least one side surface having indentations for receiving rotationally driving pins, it is characterized in that the openings of said indentations which extends in the radial direction of the roller are spaced apart from the external surface of the roller and in that the indentations have a cross-section which is larger in the radial direction of the roller than in the tangential direction. The invention permits to avoid the breakage of the roller around the driving indentations.

Rolls for generally conveying sheets, such as of steel or glass over a roller typically have a steel mandrel and fiber-containing roll cover 1, with the fiber roll cover 3 pressed between end plates 4. In a roll end assembly including the end plates there is now provided and axial shaft 11 beyond the end plate. The shaft incorporates a roll compression means. The compression means includes a compression element 16 which element engages the end plate. Pressure from the compression means, which may be exerted from beyond the shaft, can thereby be transmitted to the fiber roll.
Abstract:
Apparatus (16) and a method for roll bending heated glass sheets (G) includes a pair of sets (38) of bending rolls (40) and a support and drive mechanisms (44) that supports and rotatively drives the bending rolls at progressively increasing inclinations through the lateral sides (42) of the insulated housing (30) of a heating chamber (32) of a roll bending station (18) to provide engagement and bending at opposite lateral sides of a conveyed glass sheet. Glass sheets enter the roll bending station on the conveyor rolls (36) of a roll conveyor (34).
Abstract:
A conveyor roll for use in a tempering section of a glass sheet fabrication line includes an elongated inner core member (54) and an outer helical spring member (56) mounted for rotation about the core member. The spring member can be coated with a suitable supporting material (106) or attached to a plurality of collars (55) for supporting and conveying glass sheets.
