The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of amino alcohol derivatives or salts thereof. In particular the present invention relates to process for the preparation of amino alcohol derivatives or salts thereof which may be used as intermediates in the preparation of HIV reverse transcriptase inhibitors, more preferably Carbovir and 5 Abacavir. The present invention more specifically relates to a process for the preparation of (1S, 4R)-4-amino-2-cyclopentene-1-methanol of Formula IIIa. The present invention also specifically relates to process for the preparation of Abacavir sulfate of Formula II using compound of Formula IIIa prepared according to the process of the present invention.

A presente invenção se refere ao processo de extração e isolamento de substâncias ativas presentes na polpa do umbu (Spondias tuberosa Arr. Camara). As referidas substâncias ativas apresentam uma potente atividade quimiopreventiva e, em vista das suas características, o extrato diclorometano fracionado e os ativos obtidos pelo processo ora proposto podem ser aplicados em alimentos nutracêuticos e/ou funcionais.

A method for scrubbing off-gas generated in production units for the manufacture of acetic acid and an apparatus therefor. The method comprises supplying off-gas and acetic acid solvent at a tick-over flow rate to an acetic acid scrubbing unit, withdrawing off-gas from the scrubbing unit, supplying withdrawn off-gas to a methanol scrubbing unit, scrubbing the off-gas therein with methanol solvent and withdrawing scrubbed off-gas from the methanol scrubbing unit.

Processes for manufacturing purified aromatic carboxyiic acids include: oxidizing a substituted aromatic compound in a reaction zone to form a crude aromatic carboxyiic acid; transferring a vapor phase from the reaction zone to a separation zone, the vapor phase containing water and a plurality of organic compounds including at least one oxidation by-product; withdrawing an organic-depleted water stream from the separation zone and combining at least a portion of the organic-depleted water stream with at least a portion of the crude aromatic carboxyiic acid in a purification zone; and purifying the crude aromatic carboxyiic acid in the purification zone.

Processes for manufacturing purified aromatic carboxylic acids include: generating high-pressure steam from boiler feed wafer supplied to a boiler; heating a crude aromatic carboxylic acid using the high-pressure steam, whereby the high pressure steam is condensed to form a high-pressure condensate; and purifying the crude aromatic carboxylic acid to form a purified aromatic carboxylic acid. The boiler feed water includes at least a portion of the high-pressure condensate and makeup boiler feed water from at least one additional source.
