Abstract:
A method of preparing generally amorphous copolymers of ethylene and at least one norbornene (NB)-type comonomer. This method comprises polymerizing said monomers in a diluent or in bulk in the presence of a cationic palladium catalyst resulting from reacting a chelating ligand with a palladium (II) compound. Specific copolymers of ethylene and substituted norbornene-type monomers are also claimed.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a process for the polymerization of ethylene, norbornenes and styrenes, by contacting in solution a selected nickel compound and a selected compound which is or can be coordinated to the nickel with the olefin(s). The polymers produced are useful for films and molding resins.
Abstract:
Late transition metal complexes of certain ligands which contain phosphinidine and/or imine groups are useful as components of polymerization catalysts for olefins. Useful metals in the complexes include Ni, Pd, Fe and Co. Oligomers and/or polymers of olefins such as ethylene can be made.
Abstract:
Composition, to be used as catalyst for the polymerisation of monomers, comprises: 1) a compound characterised by general formula (I), wherein E is selected from the group consisting of N, P, As, Sb and X is a covalent bridging moiety; 2) a metal precursor: M(L)n where M is a metal from group 3 to 12 of the periodic table and L is a ligand; 3) optionally, at least one activator. A polymerisation reaction employing this composition is claimed. An array of compounds (1) is also claimed.
