In one aspect of the present invention a deodorizing composition comprising an effective amount of an inorganic salt, at least one odor-counteracting material, and an optional additive is provided. In another aspect of the present invention a method of using an inorganic salt, at least one of a malodor counteractant, an odor absorbent, and an odor-masking agent, and an optional additive in a solid composition for removing a malodor from a textile is provided. In yet another aspect of the present invention, a process for removing a malodor from a textile is provided. The present invention comprises compositions and kits based thereon, and methods for the preparation and use thereof.

A method of cleaning carpet fibres comprises applying to soiled carpet fibres a formulation. The formulation comprises: a) Wood or plant derivative, in particular cellulose, and wood flour mixtures, at a level of less than 50 % w/w b) hydrogen peroxide, at a level of less than 5.5 % w/w; c) to 15 % w/w of a solvent or mixture of solvents; and d) to 15 % w/w of a salt or mixtures of salts.

Optionally, the compositions may comprise a second surfactant compound selected from the group consisting of gemini surfactants and excipients such as builders, deflocculating agents enzymes and the like.

A method of reducing malodor on fabrics in a wash or rinse solution of a laundry process. The method comprises the step of contacting said fabrics with an effective amount to reduce malodor on said fabrics of an odor control agent selected from the group consisting of: uncomplexed cyclodextrin; odor blocker; class I and/or class II aldehydes; flavanoid; metallic salt; and mixtures thereof. Concentrated, non-liquid additive compositions are used in the methods herein. The concentrated, non-liquid compositions include powders/granules, tablets, gels, pastes, substrates/sheets, and laundry bars.
