Abstract:
Provided are a cell culture medium and a method of culturing or expanding human epithelial tumor cells from cancer-tissue originated spheroids (CTOSs). Also provided is a method of testing responsiveness of a human patient to one or more therapeutic agents.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides an alginate-based 3D cell culture as an in vitro system for enriching and maintaining the sternness properties of a cancer cell line and a reliable in vitro system for the development and evaluation of CSC-targeting agents.
Abstract:
Provided are suspension-based cell culture systems and media for the timely and efficient proliferation of human tumor cell clusters from a patient, and related methods of evaluating the potential responsiveness of the tumor cells and the patient to one or more therapeutic agents.
Abstract:
Abstract:
This present invention relates to a method of culturing cells, wherein the cell culture media comprises a body fluid preferably derived from the same species as the cells being cultured. The body fluid may be derived from the same subject as the cells being cultured, thereby providing a reflection of the in vivo cellular environment. The invention also relates to a media for use in culturing cells in vitro. The cells may be cancer cells.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods for culturing primary cells and tissues from a subject in the presence of the subject's own serum, ascites or pleural effusion fluid. Methods of treating cancer, and screening for the effectiveness or toxicity of drugs are also provided herein.
Abstract:
The present invention provides the use of selected thermogelling polymers for the purpose of growing tumor spheroids. The invention provides a thermogelling platform comprising a synthetic polymer which, when seeded with cancer cells, induces the cells to grow into a natural spheroidal pattern forming a tumor spheroid. After accomplishing this in about 3-10 days, the gel washes away, leaving behind the spheroids.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods and compositions for enhancing an immune response and/or for the treatment of an immune-related condition in an individual, e.g., cancer, comprising killing, disabling, or depleting non-stimulatory myeloid cells using an antigen binding protein such as an antibody or antigen binding fragment thereof.
Abstract:
An in vitro co-culture system comprising cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and cancer cells for producing and maintaining cancer stem cells and uses thereof for identifying agents capable of reducing cancer cell stemness. Also disclosed herein are a paracrine network through which CAFs facilitate production and/or maintenance of cancer stem cells and the use of components of such a paracrine network for prognosis purposes and for identifying cancer patients who are likely to respond to certain treatment.
Abstract:
The beta 2 subunit of mouse hemoglobin (HBB2) has been identified as soluble factor from mouse lungs that exhibits cytostatic/cytotoxic activity against neuroblastoma lung micrometastases. The beta subunit of human hemoglobin (HBB) has been found to have similar activity. Methods of using these proteins and fragments thereof in the treatment of cancer and inhibition of metastasis are provided, along with methods of screening a subject for micrometastases by detecting HBB in a biological sample.
