The present invention refers to the use of an adsorbent comprising particles comprising an amorphous phase and a crystalline phase for the purification of dry cleaning solvents. The present invention furthermore relates to a filter unit containing such an adsorbent. It also refers to a dry cleaner containing a filter according to the invention. Additionally, the present invention refers to a process for dry cleaning textiles, wherein an adsorbent according to the invention is used.

The present invention provides an article cleaning apparatus (1000) comprising an air management mechanism (1), a cleaning basket assembly (2), a fluid regeneration device (7), a working fluid device (6), a clean fluid device (8), and a controller (5). The working fluid device (6) is coupled to the fluid regeneration device (7), the cleaning basket assembly (2), and the air management mechanism. The clean fluid device (8) is coupled to the cleaning basket assembly (2) and the fluid regeneration device (7). The controller (5) is coupled to the air management mechanism (1), the cleaning basket assembly (2), the working fluid device (6), the regeneration device (7), and the clean fluid device (8). The controller (5) is configured to control a cleaning process (350). The present invention also provides a method for performing the cleaning process (350).

Specifically, purification agents are added to the mixture to effect a change in the mixture such that the contaminants become less soluble in the mixture and can be easily separated from the dry cleaning solvents.

A system and method are provided for separating water from a solvent in a dry cleaning application. According to the invention, an inlet is capable of receiving a mixture of silicone-based dry cleaning fluid and water from a condenser of a dry cleaning apparatus. A chamber is coupled to the inlet for receiving the mixture from the inlet. A porous structure is positioned in the chamber for separating the dry cleaning fluid and the water. The dry cleaning fluid passes through pores in the porous structure. An outlet is coupled to the chamber to remove the dry cleaning fluid from the chamber in the substantial absence of the water. A system for cleaning articles comprised of circulating siloxane solvent through a basket, draining the basket into tanks, centrifuging the articles and then drying the articles and recovering the siloxane solvent, and then cooling the said articles and removing said articles. In addition, the ability to remove articles after centrifuging and transfer the articles to a recovery drier allows for greater efficiency.

The invention relates to a unit for dry cleaning textile articles using a composite solvent comprising multiple components, said unit including: a dry cleaning chamber (1) configured to mix the textile articles to be cleaned with the composite solvent during a cleaning cycle; a device (7) for recovering the used composite solvent after a cleaning cycle; a treatment device (8) for removing water and dirt and recycling at least part of the used composite solvent in order to use same in another dry cleaning cycle. The unit is characterised in that it also comprises a re-adjustment device (9) for re-adjusting the composition of the recycled composite solvent, incorporating therein at least the part of the component(s) that was lost in the treatment device (8), said re-adjustment device comprising at least: a buffer tank (10) provided with at least one supply inlet (10a) for the recycled composite solvent, at least one supply inlet (10b) for at least the part of the component(s) of the composite solvent to be introduced into the buffer tank (10) in order to re-adjust the composition of the recycled composite solvent, and at least one outlet (10c) for the re-adjusted and recycled composite solvent, said outlet (10c) being connected to the storage tank (5) for the dry cleaning composite solvent; a storage tank (11) for one or more components of the dry cleaning composite solvent; and a metering pump (14) for metering the quantity of the component(s) of the composite solvent to be introduced into the buffer tank (10) through the inlet (10b) in order to re-adjust the composition of the recycled composite solvent, said pump being linked upstream to at least one storage tank (11) containing one or more components of the dry cleaning composite solvent.
