Abstract:
A method for purifying a reclaimed polymer, such as a polymer reclaimed from post-consumer use or post-industrial use, is disclosed. The method involves obtaining the reclaimed polymer and contacting it at an elevated temperature and pressure with a fluid solvent to produce an extracted reclaimed polymer. The extracted reclaimed polymer is dissolved in a solvent at an elevated temperature and pressure to produce a polymer solution, which is purified at an elevated temperature and pressure by contacting the polymer solution with solid media to produce a purer polymer solution. A purer polymer is then separated from the purer polymer solution.

A method of producing a glycerin derivative-modified silicone or a composition comprising the same, including a process that treats the glycerin derivative-modified silicone or the composition comprising the same with one or more type of acidic inorganic salt, which is solid at 25° C and water soluble, and which is such that a pH at 25° C of an aqueous solution prepared by dissolving 50g of the acidic inorganic salt in 1 L of ion exchanged water is 4 or lower; and an external use preparation, cosmetic composition, or raw materials thereof that contain the low odor glycerin derivative-modified silicone obtained by the production method.
Abstract:
A process for removing an impurity from a siloxane comprising i) flowing a first liquid through a fiber bundle comprising a plurality of fibers extending lengthwise in a conduit, wherein the bundle has an upstream end and a downstream end, and the first liquid flows in a direction from the upstream end of the bundle to the downstream end; and ii) while continuing (i), flowing a second liquid comprising a siloxane and an impurity through the fiber bundle in a direction from the upstream end of the bundle to the downstream end of the bundle to effect transfer of at least a portion of the impurity from the second liquid to the first liquid, wherein the first liquid and the second liquid are substantially immiscible.
Abstract:
An odorless modified silicone compound which is obtained by reacting an organohydrogenpolysiloxane with an alkenylpolyoxyalkylene, alkenylglycerol, and/or alkenylsaccharide by addition reaction in the presence of a platinum or rhodium catalyst and subjecting the resultant solution to the following purification treatment (A) or (B). It has a degree of unsaturation of 0.002 (meq/g) or lower and generates aldehydes in an amount of 70 ppm or smaller when aged in 0.23 N hydrochloric acid at 50 DEG C for 0.5 hr. Hydrogen ation of residual unsaturated bonds and subsequent decomposition of aldehyde condensates with an aqueous acid solution having a pH of 7 or lower. Decomposition of propenyl ether compounds with an aqueous acid solution having a pH of 7 or lower and subsequent hydrogenation of the resultant aldehydes and residual unsaturated bonds.
Abstract:
A process for removing malodorous elements from silicone dry cleaning solvents, comprising contacting the used silicone solvent with adsorbent to remove the odor, and separating the silicone solvent.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a process for purifying siloxane. The invention relates to a method of making a purified siloxane feedstock for use in the manufacturing of silica glass. The invention further relates to solid phase extracting impurities from a polyalkylsiloxane starting material.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a new synthetic process of PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane)-based polyrotaxane, which comprises a step of reacting pseudopolyrotaxane consisting of PDMS and CDs (cyclodextrins) with an end-capping agent, by (a) a radical coupling reaction, or (b) a microwave coupling reaction. By the method of the present invention, PDMS-based polyrotaxane can be obtained with high filling ratio of CDs on the PDMS chain.
