A wire wrapping device that includes a turntable assembly that is made up of a turntable and a driver adapted to rotate the turntable. Also, a set of payout carriers are mounted on the turntable, each payout carrier adapted to let out wire to be wrapped. A driver is adapted to turn each payout carrier relative to the turn table, the driver being user adjustable to turn each payout carrier by a selectable amount, per each complete rotation of the turntable.
Abstract:
A planetary cable strander (5, 8) for manufacturing cables is described. In the past planetary cable stranders (5, 8) have suffered from vibrational problems. There was also a problem of individual strands becoming trapped because reels were forced in alternate directions as a result of centripetal force. The invention provides a planetary cable strander wherein reels (15) are supported on the strander. The axes of rotation of the reels are substantially parallel to the main axis of rotation of the strander (5, 8). Mechanical brakes and guides are provided for each reel and these act to guide unwinding fibres and to maintain them at a predetermined tension so as to ensure that even cable winding takes place.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Verseileinheit (2) für eine Verseilmaschine, mit einer Verseilachse (VA) und mit einem Käfig (8), in welchem eine Anzahl von Körben (10) angeordnet ist, zur Aufnahme einer Anzahl von Spulen (12) mit darauf aufgewickeltem Stranggut (14). Die Verseileinheit (2) ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein Gestell (4) angeordnet ist, mit einem Rahmen (6), welcher in einer Umlaufrichtung (UR) um die Verseilachse (VA) herum den Käfig (8) umläuft, wobei der Käfig (8) am Rahmen (6) mittels einer Anzahl von Rahmenlagerelementen (26) gelagert und um die Verseilachse (VA) herum drehbar ist. Durch die umfängliche Lagerung werden Zentrifugalkräfte im Betrieb besonders effizient verteilt und vom Rahmen (6) aufgenommen. In einer vorteilhaften Weiterbildung werden auch mehrere Körbe (10) innerhalb des Käfigs (8) in ähnlicher Weise gelagert. Desweiteren ist die Verseileinheit (2) insgesamt derart konstruiert, dass diese mit besonders hoher Drehzahl betrieben werden kann. Weiterhin betrifft die Erfindung einen Korb (10) für eine Verseileinheit (2).

The invention pertains to a method for stranding aramid yarn around an endless core, wherein the core is provided for a stranding step to a stranding apparatus comprising at least one yarn bobbin, wherein during operation the bobbin revolves around its own axis and the bobbin revolves around the core, and unwinding the yarn from the bobbin around the core to provide a core surrounded by the yarn, wherein the yarn is a continuous aramid yarn provided with 0.05 to 0.95 wt%, based on the weight of the aramid, of a finish comprising an organophosphorus compound, wherein the organophosphorus compound is a compound of the formula X1X2X3P=O, wherein X1, X2, and X3 are independently selected from Y1-, Y1-O-, and M-O, wherein Y1 is a branched or straight-chain C1-C20 alkyl, aryl or alkenyl, with M being selected from Li, Na, K, or ammonium, with the proviso that at least one of X1, X2, or X3 is selected from Y1- or Y1-O-, wherein the different types of Y1 may be the same or different. In one embodiment, the continuous aramid yarn is provided with 0.10 to 0.50 wt% of the finish. It has been found that the use of a relatively minor amount of a finish comprising a specific organophosphorus compound results in an improved package stability on a rotating server with a rolling yarn take-off. Consequently, packages of aramid yarns provided with this finish allow for high speed stranding of aramid yarn around an endless core.

Its cross-section is constituted by a core (A) of high-performance textile fiber (12) such as red "P.B.O.", in parallel rectilinear individual filaments which are mutually jointly connected by means of universal adhesive (3), stabilized so as to form a circular cross-section by helical winding with an individual stablizing filament (2) made of red "P.B.O." textile fiber; a sheath (4) made of white polyethylene fiber such as "HT" in chain-stitched fabric, or better in a knotless helix, constitutes a protective cladding.

Mechanical to electrical transducers (12) employing magneto-elastic effects are mounted on the fairleads (24) which lead strands or wires to the closer head (27) of a wire rope making or stranding machine (20). The transducers (12) produce signals which include a useful signal reflecting the tensions of the strands or wires and background noise, which is processed by hardware (16) and software which enhance the useful signal. These signals are constantly displayed for the operators who manually control the machine (20), archived for record purposed and/or extended to feedback loops of control means for automating control of the tensions during operation of the machine (20). Better quality control and avoidance of corkscrew, wave or sunken strand phenomena are aimed at.

The present invention is related to an improved steel wire rope fabricating machine, and to an interchangeable wire spool module intended for use in a steel wire rope fabricating machine. The machine according to the present invention is capable of fabricating in a single operation steel wire ropes for plural applications, of various sizes and types, having cores of different materials such as steel, hemp, synthetic fibers, etc., and is a compact machine, not requiring much space, is relatively lightweight and affords high throughput. Therefore, the present invention provides a steel wire rope fabricating machine comprising at least a wire spool carrying module formed by at least two mutually parallel discs (8, 7), one forward disc (8) and one rear disc (7), mounted in cooperation around the same central shaft (30), the discs (8, 7) providing support to a plurality of rotor shafts (38) being parallel to one another and to the central shaft (30), around which they translate, uniformly relatively to each other proximate to the edge of each disc (8, 7) on which rotor shafts there freely rotate a plurality of wire or filament spools (35) for the fabrication of steel wire rope strands, there also being included a steel wire rope strand core feeding assembly (40, 41) mounted in cooperation at the forward end of each rotor shaft (38), a set of gears (5, 9, 39) to cause the shafts (38) to rotate in a direction opposite to that of the central shaft (30) in a rotation compatible with the desired pitch for the strands during the translation movement of the rotor shafts (38) around the central shaft (30), and coupled to said rear disc (7), a deforming assembly (32) capable of relieving the stresses caused by winding of the various wires upon forming the wire rope strand.
