A block used as a building block in constructing a wall comprises a main body comprising an insulating core with a concrete inner shell member and a concrete outer shell member respectively covering inner and outer lateral surfaces of the insulating core. Drainage channels extend from top to bottom in the main body on the side of the concrete outer shell member. Uupstanding slots at opposed ends of the main body are defined to captively receive a connector for end to end engagement of a pair of the block.

Disclosed is a wall assembly including preformed building blocks and a trellis type support member for maintaining the building blocks in place in the desired orientation. The wall assembly further includes at least one support for holding the trellis upright. The individual blocks are connected to the supporting trellis for added stability. Although not every block in the wall need be connected to the trellis support member in order to achieve the desired added stability, it is preferred to connect each block in the wall to the trellis. Connectors are provided for connecting the blocks to the trellis. Each block preferably is connected to the trellis by at least one connector, most preferably by a pair of connectors. To accommodate relative movement or shifting of the blocks during installation and in situ, the connectors are preferably movably connected to the trellis or the block, or both. Although this allows the blocks to shift relative to one another and relative to the trellis, buckling, leaning and toppling of the wall is avoided, since the combination of the blocks with the trellis panel and the support results in an overall rigid structure and the trellis panel and support maintain the structure in the desired upright orientation.

The subject matter disclosed herein generally relates to modular storage structures. In one non-limiting embodiment, a modular structure includes a plurality of stackable, inter- engaging blocks. Two or more of the blocks include at least two openings, and the blocks are configured to be removably coupled to one another with an opening of a first block aligned with an opening of a second block. The modular structure also includes at least one anchor component and at least one elongate member configured to be positioned through the aligned openings of the first and second blocks and into removable engagement with the anchor component. Other embodiments, forms, aspects and features are disclosed herein.

摘要:
A constructional building material, such as a brick, with at least one base section and a vane extending from the base section. The vane defines, at least in part, a volume of space within an envelope boundary that facilitates fluid flow, such as airflow, through a wall system formed at least in part from one or more constructional building materials. Adjacent vanes, either of the same constructional building material or of different constructional building materials, may operate to provide or define one or more common volumes of space and corresponding fluid flow channels and associated fluid flow paths. A wall system, formed in accordance with the present invention, allows fluid to pass from one side to the other through the wall system while also providing up to complete visual obstruction through the wall depending upon how the wall system is constructed. Additionally, the specific configuration of the vane of a constructional building material can function to provide visual obstruction by extending beyond its own envelope boundary to or beyond the envelope boundary of an adjacent constructional building material. The configuration of the vane in the constructional building material can vary and the wall system may be built from a plurality of constructional building material configurations. The constructional building material of the present invention may also be used in combination with tradition building materials to form a hybrid wall system.

In casting concrete retaining wall blocks (10), a plurality of mold inserts form a passage (20) between top (15) and bottom (16) surfaces of the block (10), a recess (21) in the block top between the passage (20) and the back (12) of the block (10) and a recess (22) in the bottom (16) of the block (10) between the passage (20) and the back (12) of the block (10). The recesses (21, 22) and the passage (20) are formed by a plurality of mold inserts. When the blocks (10) are used in a retaining wall, geogrid fabric (24) passes from the rear of the wall through one of the recesses (21, 22) in a block (10), through the passage (20) in the block (10) and through the other recess )21, 22) in the block (10) into backfill for stabilizing the wall. The recesses (21, 22) and passage (20) are designed so that any concrete flashing formed between abutting mold inserts is not contacted by the geogrid fabric (24).

A free-standing wall includes concrete base blocks adjacent to each other forming a base course; a first set of concrete wall blocks stacked on the base course and on each other to form a first wall face; and a second set of concrete wall blocks stacked on the base course and on each other to form a second wall face that faces the opposite direction from the first wall face and that has the same number of courses as the first plurality of wall blocks. Methods of constructing the wall arrangement include laying the base blocks next to each other end to end; stacking individual blocks of a first set of blocks on the base course and then on each other to form a first wall face; stacking individual blocks of the second set of blocks on the base course and then on each other to form a second wall face that faces a direction opposite of the first wall face.
