Abstract:
Disclosed is an economical and effective way of producing a modular retaining wall, using only blocks which in and of themselves are of insufficient thickness to function as retaining wall blocks. The modular wall includes backer blocks and facing blocks which are connected by connectors in a back to back, spaced apart arrangement, thereby forming a hollow retaining wall. The hollow wall can be filled with loose filler material to increase the mass and retaining capacity of the wall. Further disclosed are wall components and a wall kit for a modular retaining wall. A double sided decorative wall is also disclosed. The modular wall system allows for the construction of retaining walls and freestanding, double sided, decorative walls forming both straight and curved walls.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Precision shaped masonry blocks each have four rabbets. The blocks are joined by toothed elements (42) of inserting element (4) that are inserted into two parallel rabbets on the upper touching surface. The inserting elements are subjects to only axial forces. The rabbets of upper block rows are placed on smooth parts (41) of the inserting element (4) which protrude from the lower block rows. A tool (6) is used to align the blocks. When the blocks are in position they are fixed by pressing the toothed parts (42) of the inserting element (4) in the rabbets (14), (24) and (34) on the frontal contact point of the blocks. On the straight part of the wall, basic blocks (1) are used. On the angular part of the wall or on the intersection of several wall the angular blocks (2) are used. These have built in cylinders (25) which serve as formwork for vertical pillars. On the floor level trough-like block (3) and (3') are used for formong horizontal armoured concrete girders.
Abstract:
A wall comprising superposed rows of aligned conventional building blocks being approximately parallel front and back faces connected by a plurality of transverse webs defining chambers there between in which the tops and bottoms of the blocks are formed with V-shaped grooves to mate with similarly shaped V-shaped grooves in the adjacent wall or a block placed thereon. Tubing is placed within the adjacent V-shaped grooves to space the blocks from each other and maintain the adjacent rows in proper alignment. Lateral temperature rods may be placed inside the tubes.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a solid or pressed wood block used in building on the same principle as concrete blocks by staggered stacking. It is provided with two roll mouldings (1) on its upper part, two grooves (2) on its lower part and its abutting joint is produced by spline end matching (8). Two countersunk perforations (10) are present on its upper part and at the two ends symmetrically. Said pilot holes enable a screw or metal point to be passed through to bind the block to the initial support or to the lower block. The assembly of the anchored corners requires grinding of the roll mouldings (1) over the part of the assembly (13) only. Said blocks enable the construction of walls in the field of construction of buildings without requiring specialized skills. They constitute a means of upgrading and storage of accidental products such as windfalls to put to good use cuttings from the wood industry.
Abstract:
A wall structure (10, 110) and method of construction. The wall structure (10, 110) comprises a plurality of preformed, lightweight blocks (12, 112) supported and interconnected by a plurality of elongated, vertically oriented, collateral support beams (16, 116). Preferably, the support beams (16, 116) are operatively connected to an appropriate substructure (62, 100) and the lightweight blocks (12, 112) are operatively connected to the support beams (16, 116). The blocks (12, 112) and support beams (16, 116) are configured so that when they are connected to each other, a space is formed between the wall structure (10, 110) and the substructure (62, 100). Thus, an assembled wall structure (10) may be setoff from a substructure and the substructure (62, 100) may be used for other purposes.
Abstract:
A wall system having high vertical and lateral stability as well as vertical loading capacity is disclosed. The wall system includes blocks formed from two opposing plates. The plates have a spacer holding the plates at a predetermined distance from one another. Each plate includes tongues and grooves for fitting together with adjacent blocks in the wall system when the blocks are stacked with one another. Once the blocks are stacked, the space between the opposing plates of the blocks is filled with an spray insulation to lock the blocks in place.
