Embodiments of the present technology are directed to a grooved composite industrial block product. The industrial block products described herein may be manufactured from plastic materials. Methods for manufacturing such grooved composite block products are additionally described herein, and comprise filling a grooved block mold with a polymeric mixture comprising plastic materials. The grooved composite block products described herein may be utilized in various industrial applications, including as railroad ties and industrial matting.

The present invention pertains to a method for producing a multilayer polysaccharide fibre based panel provided with a surface coating that is impervious to water, comprising providing a first polysaccharide fibre based sub-panel having a bottom side and a top side, providing a second polysaccharide fibre based sub-panel which is congruent to the first sub-panel, the second panel having a bottom side and a top side, applying a layer of a hot melt adhesive on the top side of the first sub-panel, stacking the second sub-panel in a spatially aligned relationship on the first sub-panel by lying the bottom side of the second sub-panel on the layer of hot melt adhesive, applying a coating material on the top side of the second sub-panel, leading to an intermediate product comprising the stacked first and second sub-panel with an intermediate layer of the hot melt adhesive and the coating material on its top side, heating the intermediate product such that the hot melt adhesive reaches a temperature above its melting temperature, while applying pressure on the intermediate product, cooling down the intermediate product, thereby forming the multilayer panel with its water impervious coating. The invention also pertains to a multi-layer panel produced when using this method.

La presente invención corresponde a una unidad de mampostería tipo estructural prefabricada, un método y un sistema de construcción de muro, pared o fachada estructural sin ser confinado, que se refieren a elementos de construcción apilables tipo celosía, que pueden ser fabricados de una variedad de materiales usados convencionalmente, tales como: el cemento, bloques de hormigón, arcilla, roca, adobe, ladrillo, plástico, madera, metal, materiales compuestos y otros materiales adecuados y combinaciones de los mismos. Las unidades de mampostería modular tipo celosías, son agrupadas por medio de un sistema de traslapo o trabado generando diferentes configuraciones de fachada. El diseño de estas unidades de mampostería tipo celosía nos permite diferentes configuraciones de fachada dependiendo de la rotación de la misma, ya sea vertical u horizontal, siempre respetando la ubicación de las perforaciones verticales. En algunos casos permite la modulación con unidades de mampostería tipo celosía de diferentes familias. Tiene una gran variedad de formas y el tipo de entramado define el nivel de privacidad que se puede obtener de un espacio a otro, al igual para fines de ventilación, transmisión y difusión de luz, lo que resulta en una construcción rápida de una estructura de soporte tipo celosía con propiedades anti-sísmicas. Los diseños están pensados como juegos de texturas que permitan el paso de la luz y del aire, algunos como perforaciones horizontales y otros como piezas solidas que al momento de agrupar crean espacios entre sí para el paso de luz y del aire, generando un ambiente con juegos de sombras, luces y ventilación.

A structural panel includes a shell having spaced first and second exterior panels and frame members adjacent edges of the panels, and at least one polymeric sheet disposed between the exterior panels and bonded to an adjacent exterior panel. The polymeric sheet is made of a thermoplastic material and has a plurality of openings through its thickness spaced apart by flat wall portions of the polymeric sheet. Stiffeners are disposed between the polymeric sheets and are secured by polymeric end caps. The end caps are made of a thermoplastic material and have a plurality of openings through their thickness for receiving the stiffeners. A foam insulation material fills substantially all the space between the polymeric sheets, stiffeners, and frame members in the shell interior. At least one blast- or ballistic- resistant core layer may be disposed adjacent the at least one polymeric sheet.

A structural building unit, a form for making a structural building unit, and a method of forming a structure from structural building units are disclosed. A structural building unit comprising left, right, back, and front portions with the front portion extending inward and downward from the left and right front edges creates a void into which soil and plants may be placed, allowing plants to grow from any structure created with the structural building units. These structural building units are suitable for improving the aesthetic value of the structure and providing any structure built therefrom with shade and other methods of cooling, including evapotranspiration, reducing the contribution of the structure to any heat island effect. The plants also lead to improved air quality through conversion of carbon dioxide to oxygen and carbohydrates.
