Abstract:
This invention relates to a novel thermoplastic profile roofing strip and an apparatus for welding the thermoplastic profile roofing strip to a thermoplastic roofing membrane.
Abstract:
A support platform is constructed from three main components. An array of tiles (1) carries projecting protrusions (2), which provide precise location for the lower flanges (3) of flooring units (4). Each set of three extending flooring units (4) (located on the array of tiles (1)) is linked together by support members (5), which extend in length across the whole width of the support platform. Bracing struts (6) and (7) interconnect pairs of support members (5). The protrusions (2) on the tiles (1) interconnect with the flooring units (4) in such a way as to create gaps between the tiles one, which assist in drainage from the structure.
Abstract:
A roofer's safety aid consisting of a freestanding seat with adjustable leg heights allowing the seat to sit astride a roof hip or ridge, because the legs sit firmly in the hollow of adjacent roof tiles such that angles of leg emplacement prevent the seat from falling. All four legs (1) can contain inner metallic tubes that telescope and are lockable at varying heights and have rubber non-slip pads (6) as feet. Seat perforations permit air circulation in hot weather and drainage of rain in bad weather. Relocation of the device is fast and easy during work, and the lightweight design allows one-handed carriage up and down ladders. A roof worker has full freedom of movement safely. Faster completion of the work with less fatigue for the roofer and no time wasted attaching equipment to building or scaffolding has obvious advantages. This simple but fundamental invention concept achieves major improvements in speed, safety, convenience and comfort for the worker and hence the employer. Some extra minor modifications permit the device to be used on old roofs having slate and other tiling materials, these include a central leg with large wide rubber cushion fitting over an entire hip or ridge tile and swivel leg atttachments with large surface area rubber pads to spread weight load, of merit with any tile material.
Abstract:
A framing T-square protractor apparatus includes a first rule (1) element having first and second edges (10,11), a surface (12), and a length of about 3ft between the first and second edges (10,11); a second rule (2) element having first and second edges (20,21), a surface (22), and a length of about 5ft between the first and second edges (20,21), the second rule element (2) being pivotally connected to the first rule element (1) midway between the first and second edges (10,11) of the first rule element (1); and a semi-circular element (3) extending between the first and second edges (10,11) of the first rule element (1) to form an 180 degrees arc with 0 to 90 degrees angle indicia on each half, the semi-circular element (3) being connected to the first and second edges (10,11) of the first rule element (1) and being adapted to movably receive the second rule element (2) for sliding along the semi-circular element (3).
Abstract:
An adjustable roofing safety system is provided which adapted to prevent materials, supplies, tools and workmen performing roofing operations on high-pitched roofs from falling over the edge, protecting both individuals on the roof and individuals who happen to be positioned at levels lower than the edge of the roof from being injured. The apparatus is selectively positionable in both the horizontal and vertical directions as needed as work progresses across the roof surface.
Abstract:
A modular tool (1) for mechanical working is described, comprising: a supporting member (3); a working tool (5, 7) interchangeable according to the type of working; and an adjustable connecting member (9) adapted to connect the working tool (5, 7) to the supporting member (3).
Abstract:
Abstract:
An apparatus for straightening portions of a plurality of purlins (18) of a roof structure (10) which have been moved from an original position to a deformed position (80) and a method of using the same is disclosed. A carriage (34) is provided which is mounted for movement along the length of the purlins (18) in a downstream direction (36). The carriage (34) has a plurality of guides (60) which are positioned adjacent the plurality of purlins (18) in the deformed position (80). A purlin straightening device (90) attached to the carriage (34) moves the carriage (34) in a direction lateral to the length of the purlins (18) so that the guides (60) move the portions of the plurality of purlins (18) from the deformed position (80) to the original position.
