Abstract:
The load carrying platform shuttle (10) has a static frame (12) that defines a cam surface (92). A carriage (14) is arranged to telescope into the static frame. A ramp (4) has an outboard edge rotatably connected to the carriage (14). A cam follower (54) is disposed on the ramp (54) so as to engage with the cam surface (92). The cam surface (92) and the cam follower (104) cooperate such that an inboard edge of the ramp (54) is automatically maintained at an elevated height whilst the carriage (14) is disposed intermediate of an extended position and a retracted position and such that the inboard edge of the ramp (54) is automatically maintained at a lowered (10) height whilst the carriage (14) is at the retracted position. The static frame is constructed from I-beams (16) that are reinforced to increase their resistance to the bending moment applied by the carriage (14) whilst it is in the extended position.
Abstract:
A scaffold safety system and stillage, wherein the stillage contains either all protective tubes for scaffold components, part protective tubes for scaffold components and part storage buckets for storing at least one type of protective component for a scaffold component, or all storage buckets for storing at least one type of protective component for a scaffold component, the protective tubes and protective components to minimise injury or damage to property from exposed scaffold components.
Abstract:
A load carrying platform shuttle (10) has a static frame (12) and a movable carriage (14). The frame is securable to a mounting location, such as a given working level of a multi-storey building under construction, and the carriage is arranged to telescope into the static frame between an extended position outboard of the mounting location and a retracted position inboard of the mounting location. The movable carriage can move between the extended position and the retracted position while carrying a load. The shuttle includes a motor (76) and gear assembly (72, 74, 78) for driving the movement of the carriage between the extended position and the retracted position while carrying the load.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the invention is a horizontal scaffold truss that has upper and lower horizontal scaffold members offset but fixedly joined with braces. Each upper and lower members have a connector positioned on each end of the respective lower and upper members, where at least one of the connectors is pivotally mounted on the respective lower or upper connector, and the connecters are engageable with an annular member positioned on a vertical scaffold member.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a mobile scaffold tower comprising a platform section mounted on one or more prop sections. The platform section has a substantially planar work surface for supporting a worker. A method of erecting a scaffold tower that enables workers to construct the scaffold tower whilst remaining on ground level. A lifting mechanism is used to raise the lowermost point of a platform section or any connected prop sections to a predetermined height. A new prop section is then placed beneath the elevated sections, and the elevated sections are then lowered back down on top of the new prop section. The new prop section is connected to the section above it and the entire connected sections are elevated again to allow another new prop section to be manoeuvred beneath them and connected at the bottom. This is far safer than worker climbing on a partially constructed scaffold tower to build the next level in the scaffold tower. A further aspect of the invention is related to the one or more prop sections consist of an X-shaped framework in plan view. The advantage of the one or more prop sections consisting of an X-shaped framework in plan view is that the scaffold tower comprises a framework which facilitates placement of the scaffold tower around protruding objects such as pipes and/or vents.
Abstract:
A system and method for a scaffold deck with a fall arrest assembly is disclosed. The fall arrest assembly comprises a deck structure (102) and a rail assembly (122) for permitting an individual to tie-off in a manner that permits the individual with a range of motion along the deck structure. The fall arrest assembly further includes an uplift hook mechanism (120) connected to or otherwise installed on the deck structure such that the uplift hook mechanism is employed for both securing the deck structure to and releasing the deck structure from at least one supporting member. A plurality of deck hooks (118) connectable to or otherwise installed on the decking structure for connecting the decking structure to the supporting member is additionally provided. A deck latch assembly located connected to the uplift hook mechanism additionally facilitates connection of the deck structure to a second deck structure.
Abstract:
A safety device including a boom with a primary end and a secondary end, where: - the primary end and secondary end are the opposite terminal ends of the boom; - the primary end is configured to be, releasably or permanently, attached to a mounting which includes a mounting joint which is a hinge joint; - the boom includes a base section, zero or one intermediate section and a load section connected together, in that order, by hinge joints, such that the safety device can extend from a mounting in a single plane, a movement plane, that lies parallel to the longitudinal axis of the boom, - the primary end is coterminous with an exposed end, a first base end, of the load section; - the load section includes a first load end and a second load end, where the first and second load ends are opposite terminal ends of the load section; - the secondary end is coterminous with the second load end; and - the second load end includes a connection point, where the connection point is configured to releasably attach a user to the boom via a device with fall arrest capabilities, such that the connection point does not slide lengthwise along the load section.
Abstract:
A walkway (1) for installation on a roof, comprising a tread (2) for a user to walk upon, the tread (2) being bounded along an elongate side by a toe guard (4, 5) having an elongate extent, and an anchorage (13) for a fall restraint system. The toe guard (4, 5) may provide a location (12) for the anchorage (13).
