    Abstract: A description is given of a door opener for a door having a door leaf mounted such that it can be moved in or on a door frame. An electrically operatable actuating device with a self-locking electric motor (12) with a linear output drive (121) and also an actuating mechanism, which can be controlled by the electric motor (12), are provided in order to actuate a bolt (11) from the unlocking position into the locking position. The electric motor (12) is designed such that it can be displaced, along its longitudinal axis, from a rear position into a front position, and it can be fixed in the front position by an electromagnetic device (13, 17, 19). A motor-restoring spring (16) is arranged between the housing of the electric motor (12) and a stop (14a), which is mounted on the door-opener housing.

    Abstract: A gift for the millennium, or other specific time, is inserted in a container and is secured therein by wrapping a ribbon (20) therearound. One end of the ribbon (20) is permanently affixed to a housing (4) of a fastening device (2) and the free end (22) of the ribbon (20) is secured to the fastening device (2) by extending a bolt (8) through a loop in the end (22) of the ribbon. The bolt (8) is held in this position against the action of a spring (38) by way of a release mechanism comprising a trigger (40) and a releasable permanent magnet (42). A circuit is incorporated within the housing (4) to enable the current time to be displayed and also to hold in memory a predetermined date and time, for example the millennial hour, at which the package is to be opened. At the predetermined time, release pulses apply demagnetising current to the release coil of the magnet (42) whereby the trigger (40) is released so that the spring (38) is able to retract the bolt (8).

    Abstract: A lock assembly (10) for mounting on a door includes a dead-locking element (31), movement of which is controlled by an electrically operated device (35) for mounting on the door frame and magnetically coupled to a linkage system (32, 33) whereby the dead-locking element (31) is moved. The linkage system carries a permanent magnet (34) which interacts with the core (37) of the solenoid when the door is in its closed position, and when the solenoid is energised it repels the permanent magnet (34) thereby operating the linkage system to move the dead-locking element (31) away from its operative position, thereby allowing a locking member (12) to be withdrawn.
