Abstract:
The invention concerns a plastics housing comprising an upper part, a bottom part and a control element to be disposed between the two, in particular a wax thermostat (10) for controlling the temperature of the intake air of mixture-compressing internal combustion engines. The position of the control element is adjusted on assembly. This adjustment is carried out in that the control element is positioned by bonding the housing bottom part (13) and housing upper part (14) of the plastics housing (19) in the correct axial position.
Abstract:
An improved seal assembly (42) for use with a combustion liner assembly is employed with a gas turbine engine (10) so as to control fluid flow. The seal assembly has a bi-metal sealing member (44) that is affixed to a first surface that is proximal to a second perpendicular surface that is not in contact with the first surface, thus providing a potential fluid flow path (56). Upon heating, the bi-metal sealing member "uncoils" contacting the second perpendicular surface, thus blocking the flowpath between the two surfaces. Various metals may be provided to provide predetermined sealing characteristics. Corresponding method to control a fluid path in a gas turbine engine (10).
Abstract:
A method of controlling a sucked air temperature in an internal combustion engine, characterized by comprising the steps of varying the opening and closing amount of a hot air valve (3) according to a variation in temperature of the sucked air comprising warm air, outside air, or both of them, maintaining the temperature of the sucked air within a constant range by controlling the hot air-outside air mixing ratio, controlling the hot air-outside air mixing ratio based on a variation of negative pressure in an intake chamber (13) and also based on the load conditions specified from engine control parameters and, in a particular condition, bringing the hot air valve (3) forcibly into an outside air introducing state irrespective of the temperature of the sucked air.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an air mixer for an internal combustion engine, comprising a housing (1), a cold air inlet (2) and a hot air inlet (3). The inventive air mixer is characterized in that a detection device (12) is provided for detecting snow-laden air, in addition to a closing device (6) controlled by the detection device for closing the cold air inlet (2) in the presence of snow-laden air.
