A compressor has an economizer injection line communicating into the compressor compression chambers. An unloader valve selectively communicates the economizer injection line back to a point upstream of the evaporator. When the compressor is run in unloaded mode, partially compressed refrigerant is thus returned to a point upstream of the evaporator. In unloaded mobile, this results in a higher refrigerant mass flow through the evaporator, as compared to prior art when the bypassed refrigerant was returned downstream of the evaporator. This increases system efficiency by more effectively returning oil which otherwise might be left in the evaporator back to the compressor. Also, the amount of refrigerant superheat entering the compressor in unloaded operation is reduced as compared to the prior art compressor systems, wherein the bypassed refrigerant is returned directly to the compressor suction line. Reduced refrigerant superheat increases system efficiency, improves motor performance and reduces compressor discharge temperature.

Preferably, the precharging device includes a cup-shaped drive housing (130) secured to one end plate and enclosing the scroll wraps, and a flexible torque-transmitting member (140) connecting between the enclosure member and the second end plate. Apertures (160) are provided in the enclosure member (130) to permit fluid flow into the space enclosed by the enclosure device, with vanes (162) disposed adjacent the apertures to force fluid into the enclosed space (150) during rotation of the scroll wraps. Fluid thus forced into the enclosed space is precharged prior to entering the scroll wraps, being at higher pressure than fluid exterior the enclosed space, improving the operating efficiency of the scroll apparatus.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Schraubenvakuumpumpe mit zwei Rotoren (4, 5), die jeweils eine Nabe (6, 7) und ein Gewinde (8, 9) aufweisen, sowie mit einem Gehäuse (2), in dem die Rotoren mit ineinander greifenden Gewinden derart untergebracht sind, dass sie gemeinsam mit dem Gehäuse saugseitig angeordnete Eintrittsquerschnitte (15, 16) sowie druckseitig angeordnete Auslassquerschnitte (29) bilden und während der Drehbewegung der Rotoren (4, 5) eine Förderung von Gasen von der Saugseite zur Druckseite bewirken; zur Verbesserung der Ein- und Ausströmverhältnisse wird vorgeschlagen, dass die Rotoren (4, 5) saugseitig mit Strömungskörpern (21, 22; 26, 27, 28; 36, 37) ausgerüstet sind, die den Eintrittsquerschnitten (15, 16) vorgelagert und derart ausgebildet sind, dass sie die Zuströmverhältnisse der zu fördernden Gase zu den Eintrittsquerschnitten (15, 16) verbessern.
