Abstract:
A device includes first and second elements. The first element includes a cross-linked thermoplastic. The second element is configured to engage and to strain the first element by a predetermined amount. The first and second elements are configured to move relative to each other and such that movement of the first and second elements produces a substantially repeatable shearing force between the first and second elements.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A mounting assembly includes a connecting subassembly having first and second exterior arms, and an interior arm having first and second ends disposed between the first and second exterior arms. The first end of the interior arm and a portion of the first exterior arm define a first socket. The second end of the interior arm and a portion of the second exterior arm define a second socket. First and second mounting members disposed in the respective first and second sockets.
Abstract:
An adjustable locking mount system permits rotation about at least one of x, y, and z axes. Methods provide for rotating and rocking the mount to obtain the desired position, fixing the mount in the desired position, and mounting an object onto the mount.
Abstract:
Apparatus for aligning an optical measuring system to a desired direction comprises two housings (42,48) attachable to two relatively movable parts of a machine. The housings (42,48) have engagement means (53) such that when they are engaged together the optics inside (44,50) are aligned. The first housing (42) may be provided with attachment means, such as a ball (46), which may be located in a mount (54) on the machine table (56). The position of this ball (46) is determined and the machine spindle (60) is moved to a position a distance from the ball (46) of the first housing (42) to enable attachment means (52) of the second housing (48) to be attached to the spindle (60) when the two housings (42,48) are joined and such that the apparatus is aligned with the desired direction. The engagement means (53) between the two housings (42,48) may be compliant along an axis of the apparatus.

Abstract:
A pistol grip for a hand tool consisting partly of a working part (1) with an electrical circuit, and partly of a handle (3), which is attached to the working part (1) by means of a ball joint (4). The ball joint is provided with a hollow ball (5), which is mounted movably in a socket (6) and can be locked in the desired position by means of a tightening device (8) which, for the purpose of locking the ball joint, is arranged so as to act one a tapered element (9) extending into the ball (5), the tapered element (9) pressing the periphery of the ball against the inner wall of the socket (6). The handle is provided with a trigger (10), which actuates a flexible rod (11) which is supported and is free to move, partly within a passage (12) exiting at the tip of the tapered element, and partly within a passage (13) exiting at an attachment (14) for the working part (1), the rod (11) being arranged at the attachment point (14) to bridge two poles in the electrical circuit in the working part (1) in order to activate same.
Abstract:
A supporting device for setting with a large freedom of choice in the space, of a first object, like a computer keyboard is described. It is characterized by the following: a cylindrical body (1, 2), comprising an upper cylindrical part (1) and a lower cylindrical part (2). An upper piston (22) is axially movable in the upper cylindrical part (1) and a lower piston (6) is axially movable in the lower cylindrical part (2). The upper cylindrical part (1) is connected to a hollow body (24, 25), parted into two hollow body parts (24 and 25), with a gap (32) between them. A ball body (27) is grasped by the hollow body (24, 25) and the upper piston (22), and a shaft (26) is fixed to the ball body (27), pointing out through the gap (32), carrying said first object (30). The lower cylindrical part (2) is connected to a house (12, 13), which comprises two body halves (33, 34) each being connected to its pin halve (9, 10), which extend downwards to a fastener (18) in said second object. A wedge element (8) is provided, which can be acted upon by the lower piston (6), and an expander means (20, 21) is provided, which when acted upon by an outer means part, like a handle (21), can either bring the upper piston (22) and the lower piston (6) apart, locking, so that the ball body (27) is locked by the upper piston (22) and the wedge element (8) forces the two body halves (33, 34) apart, locking, so that the pin halves (9, 10) are locked in the fastener (18), or releasably admits, that the upper piston (22) and the lower piston (6) approach each other.
Abstract:
A device for connecting rod- or plate-shaped building components is provided with a gripping unit (1, 2) and an insert (5, 6). The insert (5, 6) is preferably spherical or polyhedral and can be introduced in various positions in an appropriate clamping region of the gripping unit (1, 2). The clamping region is accessible in five different mutually perpendicular or antiparallel spatial directions (7.1, ..., 7.5).
