Abstract:
A liner pipe (15) for lining an existing pipe comprising a first elongate portion (14) of plastics material and including a second portion (11) extending from the first portion and having a flexibility substantially greater than the first portion to assist in insertion through an existing pipe.
Abstract:
A method for joining a multi-layered pipe (37) to a coupling (35), the multi-layered pipe including at least an outer (1) and an inner (5) layer of thermoplastic material and the coupling (35) comprising a thermoplastic material, the method comprising; providing a coupling (35) including a recess R for receiving an end of a multi-layered pipe (37), the recess R being configured, in use, to permit the coupling to contact the inner (5) and outermost (1) layers of a multi-layered pipe (37) received in the recess R; fitting an end of the multi-layered pipe (37) into the recess R of the coupling (35); introducing heat to both the coupling (35) sufficient to cause local melting at the interface between the coupling (35) and either the inner layer (5) alone or both the inner (5) and outer (1) layers of the multi-layered pipe (37).
Abstract:
In a plate which is couplable to the edge of an opening provided in a tubular element, the edge of the plate (1, 100) is shaped to correspond with the opening (22, 220) to make at least the edges of the opening (22, 220) and of the plate (1, 100) removably couplable. The plate comprises: a seating (11, 110), provided near the internal face (1D, 100D) thereof; closing means (13, 130), at least partially housed within the seating (11, 110) and capable of fusing, following a predetermined rise in the temperature of the assembly consisting of the tubular element (2, 220) and of the plate (1, 100), and to invest the edge of the plate (1, 10 100) and of the opening (22, 220), and, consequent to cooling of the assembly, to solidify, causing the plate (1, 100) to weld unremovably to the edge of the opening (22, 220).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for installing a mechanical tube plug (74) to assure the integrity of the seal between the tube plug (74) and tube (66). The actual torque applied in accomplishing each step in the tube plug installation process is monitored and recorded (70) to assure that the integrity of each step of the tube plug installation process is maintained and, therefore, the integrity of the seal is assured.
Abstract:
A fusible completion plug and method for its use includes a cylindrical plug body having a lower portion that includes a fusible element in communication with an electric power supply. The completion plug also includes an elastomeric seal that provides for a temporary seal. A pressure balancing port and equalization valve are provided to relieve the differential pressure across the completion plug as the plug is positioned in place. The pressure equalization valve also includes a fusible element for fusing the valve within the port, thereby preventing a leak path through the plug body. A blind flange may be installed above the completion plug in case the plug fusion fails. The blind flange may be a traditional blind flange or may be a fusible blind flange.
Abstract:
A method of retaining a cover (3) interiorally within an orifice in a machine housing and sealing the gap (9) therebetween comprising providing a first peripherally extending groove (7) in a radially outward facing surface of the cover and a second peripherally extending groove (5) in a confronting radially inward facing surface (4) of the housing, applying an expandable sealing material into at least one of the peripherally extending grooves (5, 7), positioning and temporarily holding the cover within the orifice such that the first and second grooves confront each other and then expanding the sealing material to fill both grooves and to occupy at least in part the space between the cover and the housing such that the cover is retained and sealed in the housing by mechanical interlock of the expanded sealing material interposed between them. The method may be applied to retaining cover in a gear unit housing.
Abstract:
A system comprising: a joint in the form of a sleeve (200) or a wrap, the joint being for connecting insulated pipes, and at least one plug for closing at least one conical hole (202) in the joint, wherein the at least one plug comprises: a plug body having round cross-sectional diameters decreasing in size from a first end of the plug body to a second end of the plug body, and a plug collar (120) with a proximal surface and a distal surface opposite the proximal surface, wherein the plug body extends from the distal surface of the collar and has the largest cross-sectional diameter nearest the plug collar (120), wherein the at least one plug is made from a material being directly weldable in the at least one hole (202) in the joint when the at least one plug and the at least one hole (202) are heated to a pre-determined temperature.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A pipe lining assembly and a method for plugging a pipe line utilizing a pipe lining assembly are provided. The pipe lining assembly includes an inflatable bladder having a first end and a second end defining a cylindrical body, and a patch folded in a hat like shape disposed over the first end of the bladder. When the bladder is inflated inside a pipe line, the patch unfolds and plugs the pipe line i.e. stops fluid from flowing through the closed portion of the pipe line.
