Cette garniture d'étanchéité (7) comprend : un joint élastomère d'étanchéité annulaire (8) présentant deux faces frontales circonférentielles axialement opposées, deux brides (9a et 9b) qui enserrent respectivement ces faces frontales en comprimant le joint axialement de sorte que ce joint soit expansé radialement en appuyant contre les tubes, des moyens (10) fixant le joint aux brides en le traversant, et des moyens de serrage (11) qui sont montés axialement à l'extérieur d'une dite bride (9b) et qui coopèrent avec lesdits moyens de fixation pour exercer un effort de serrage axial sur le joint par les brides. Described herein is an autonomous fluid spill containment device for a pipeline having a carrier conduit for transporting a fluid and a containment conduit located around the carrier conduit to define an interstitial space for receiving fluid spilled from the carrier conduit. The device comprises a spilled fluid barrier for stopping spilled fluid flow. The fluid barrier is located in the interstitial space and extending between the carrier conduit and the containment conduit. A spilled fluid sensor is located in the interstitial space to detect spilled fluid flowing in the containment conduit. A network monitor that interfaces for communicating with an operator's data collection, analysis and reporting systems. A sensor network is connected to the fluid sensor for communicating spilled fluid sensor and location data from the sensor to the network monitor so as to alert the operator to the location of the spilled fluid in real time.

Disclosed is an anti-extrusion assembly used in conjunction with an expandable packing device. The assembly comprises two slotted metallic rings encapsulated in a non-metallic material. The slotted metallic rings prevent extrusion of the sealing mechanism of the expandable packing device as the device is set in a wellbore casing. The encapsulating non- metallic material protects the metallic rings from damage as the packing device is run into the wellbore. In an alternative embodiment, the anti-extrusion assembly comprises a crimped metallic ring flanked by non-metallic rings. As with the slotted metallic rings, the single crimped metallic ring prevents extrusion of the sealing mechanism of the expandable packing device as it is set in the wellbore casing.

The invention relates to a method for modifying a pipe, in which the host pipe (2) to be modified receives a replacement pipe (4) having smaller diameter together with a conduit or conduits (5) in order to form additional channels (8). In accordance with the invention, the flexible conduits (5) are disposed on top of the replacement pipe (4) and are pressurised so as to press the replacement pipe against the bottom of the host pipe (2) for mutual positioning of the conduits, the replacement pipe and the host pipe. After this, the free space remaining within the host pipe (2) is filled with liquid filler (7) while the pressurised conduits (5) prevent them and the replacement pipe from being dislodged, and finally the filler (7) is cured in order to lock the conduits and the replacement pipe into position. The invention is suitable e.g. for renewal of old drain pipes comprising insertion of a new drain pipe (4) to act as a replacement pipe within an old pipe (2) acting as the host pipe and providing additional channels (8) for service, rain or drying waters or cablings (9).

The draw wire (4) is attached to a first end of a micro-duct (110) and thus a pulling mechanism (114) can act on the draw wire 4 to introduce the micro-duct (110) into the pipe (100) between the connector fittings (102, 104).

A welding method, to reduce tension due to pipe stretching, for a downhole double-walled insulated pipe is disclosed. The pipe comprises an inner pipe, an outer pipe, steel spacer rings and insulated material fitted filling the annular space. Special welding links the ends of Inner and outer pipes, forming a flexible metallic joint, achieved through the use of addition materials with specific chemical composition during the welding process. The inner pipe is heated and extended before the tube welding is performed. The welded point is strong enough to keep the inner tube in place when it cools down, creating a tension inwards in the tube. This way, when steam flows through the tubing during the operation, the heat stretches the tube until the tension direction is outwards, then the tension now becomes about half of the normal tension applied to the tube soldering joint with the usual welding process.
