Abstract:
An edge lit fixture. A light engine comprises a compartment and at least one elongated lens that are attachable to a mount plate. The mount plate, an exterior surface of the compartment, and the lens define an internal optical cavity. A light strip is mounted to the mount plate within the optical cavity. One or more legs can be used to attach the fixture to an external surface, such as a ceiling T-grid. The light engine can be used with legs of varying size such that it can fit within ceiling openings having different dimensions. The assembled fixture defines an open area. One or more light engines are arranged around or through the open area such that light is emitted into the open area. The open area of the fixture allows for existing materials, such as a ceiling tile, for example, to function as a back side reflector panel.
Abstract:
An ornament device for storing and deploying ornamental lights is formed as a shell or housing. The shell or housing stores and provides for deploying a string of ornament lights. The sting of ornamental lights is formed with an electrical wire interconnecting a plurality of ornamental lights interspaced along the wire that is connected on opposing wire ends to a male connector and a female connector. A retractable winding mechanism is arranged within the shell or housing for winding and maintaining the string of lights to a storage state and, for unwinding the string of lights to a deployment state.
Abstract:
A Fresnel lighting instrument for use in film and video production, having a LED light engine mounted to a heat sink defining a first plane, a dual basket type focusing assembly adapted to longitudinally extend or retract a Fresnel lens away from and back to the first plane substantially without rotation along the longitudinal range of extension, to provide a fanless, cool operating, highly compact and lightweight Fresnel light suitable for studio or field use. The dual basket type design allows for transporting three Fresnel units in a standard milk crate since the unit collapses down whereas existing Fresnel lights all use a constant volume can-shaped housing within which the light source is repositioned.
Abstract:
A reflector and a light fixture assembly having a reflector can be configured such that the reflector helps the fixture to produce greater light output. The reflector can be formed from conical sections. Reflector sections can be assembled through inter-engaging elements. A mounting configuration for the reflector can be formed from the material of the reflector itself. Support elements for a light source are also disclosed, as well as a kit and methods of assembly and use.

Abstract:
A solar powered lamp is provided with flat ends and a translucent flexible housing, such that the housing can be inflated to form a free standing cylinder. A solar panel faces outward on one of the flat ends for recharging a low-profile rechargeable battery which, under the control of a printed circuit panel, powers an array of LEDs, which point into the lamp housing. Reflective surfaces, facing each other on opposite inside end walls of the lamp, maximize the diffusion of light from the LEDs. The lamp is aa durable, portable, long light lighting solution for those who live off the electric power grid, victims of disaster, and the like.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A lighting assembly (10) is provided that comprises a lighting element and a light transmittant spiral element (18). The spiral element (18) has a spiral recess therein for receiving the lighting element. The spiral element (18) is configured with a varying cross section along its length such that, under the influence of gravity, extension of the centre of the spiral element in an upwards vertical direction substantially regularly spaces the coils from one another in the vertical direction.
Abstract:
A hinge retaining mechanism for a fluorescent lighting system. A portable fluorescent lighting system which utilizes an extremely lightweight corrugated plastic panel made into 5 subpanels. At each end of the panel a U shaped channel is attached that forms the center panel and the opposing adjacent two panels into a trough or recessed pan On each of the two remaining panels is attached another U shaped channel. Each of the U shaped channels includes a mechanism for supporting a high-tension mechanical hinge. The mechanical hinge is designed to float freely within the adjacent channel brackets. One part of the hinge is mechanically retained to the channel to prevent inadvertent removal of the hinge.
