    Abstract: Adjustable focus glasses (100) are formed using liquid crystal. A pair of adjustable focus glasses (100) can include a frame (110) and two lenses (210, 220) arranged on the frame (110). At least one of the two lenses (210, 220) is a lens assembly (120) that includes a plano-concave lens (210), a Fresnel lens (220), and a liquid crystal layer (332) between the plano-concave lens (210) and the Fresnel lens (220). The plano-concave lens (210) includes a planar surface (211) and an opposing concave surface (212). The Fresnel lens (220) includes a Fresnel surface (221) and an opposing convex surface (222). The planar surface (211) and the Fresnel surface (221) face the liquid crystal layer (332). The focus position of the lens assembly (120) can be adjusted through changing the refractive index of the liquid crystal layer (332), using appropriate control signals from an electronic controller. This conveniently allows the adjustable focus glasses (100) to be multi-purpose and suitable for correcting both myopia and hyperopia.

    Abstract: 본 발명은 PVC 겔 기반의 전기활성 프레넬 존 플레이트 렌즈 시스템을 개시한다. 본 발명에 따른 프레넬 존 플레이트 렌즈 시스템은, 일면에 프레넬 존 플레이트 패턴이 형성된 PVC 겔 재질의 렌즈부; 렌즈부의 가장자리를 고정하면서 양극(+)의 역할을 하는 고정전극; 렌즈부의 타면에 결합되어 음극(-)의 역할을 하는 투명 신축성 전극을 포함하며, 고정전극과 투명 신축성 전극을 전원공급부에 연결하면 렌즈부가 고정전극쪽으로 변형되면서 초점거리와 배율 중에서 적어도 하나가 변하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 본 발명에 따르면, PVC 겔이 양극에 끌리는 성질을 이용하여 프레넬 존 플레이트 렌즈의 투명 영역과 불투명 영역의 위치와 폭을 조절할 수 있고, 이를 통해 초점거리나 배율을 변화시킬 수 있다.
