A rotary friction dryer or gasifier (1) and a method of using the same is provided. The rotary friction dryer (l)generally comprises an entrance stage (10), an exit stage (30), a decompression zone (20) located such that it separates the entrance and exit stages, a multistage compression screw (7), a mixing means (40) coupled to the screw, at least one exhaust vent (25) located in the decompression zone (20), and at least one discharge outlet (35) located in the exit stage (30). The entrance stage (10) includes an intake throat (15) and the temperature of each stage (entrance and exit) is controllable.

O processo contínuo da presente invenção destina-se a obter biomassa seca a partir de duas etapas de tratamento por secagem de resíduos orgânicos. Os resíduos previamente peneirados e triturados são despejados em um primeiro secador em cujo interior as temperaturas se situam entre 280°C e 300°C na sua entrada e entre 90°C e 100°C na saída, passando em seguida a uma esteira transportadora onde à temperatura ambiente ocorre um desaquecimento parcial e são despejados em um segundo secador em cujo interior as temperaturas se situam entre 180°C e 200°C na sua entrada e entre 75°C e 85°C na saída completando o processo, durante o qual o interior dos secadores é mantido em pressão negativa através de fluxo por exaustão e o teor de oxigénio é mantido entre 5 e 7%.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for recycling municipal domestic waste comprises subjecting the waste to steam at 150°C – 200°. After steam treatment, the resultant material is separated into constituent parts and biomass and/or plastics subjected to further treatment. The further treatment preferably produces bioethanol from the biomass and diesel from the plastics. As an alternative, some or all of the biomass may be gasified in order to produce hydrogen which may, in turn be fed to a fuel cell to produce an electrical output. The bio diesel or bioalcohol can also be used to produce electricity.

Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to a polymer treatment device (100) for providing a treatment to a polymer bed (4) having granules (2) of a polymer that are in a solid- state, a computer-readable medium associated with a controller thereof, and an associated molding system (1000). The polymer treatment device 100 includes a polymer supporter (110) with which to support, in use, the polymer bed (4), a radiant heater (120) with which to heat, in use, the polymer bed (4), a first fluid dispenser (140-1) with which to dispense, in use, a first treatment fluid (102-1), and a first fluid vent (150-1) with which to vent, in use, the first treatment fluid (102-1), along with a diffusate from the polymer bed (4) potentially entrained therewith. Furthermore, the first fluid dispenser (140-1) and the first fluid vent (150-1) are arranged to promote a flow of the first treatment fluid (102-1) through the polymer bed (4) in between the granules (2) thereof.

A cylindrical rotary kiln which comprises transporting devices arranged inside the rotary cylinder. Serving as a conveyor, a feed screw (2) is provided which may be driven independently of the rotary cylinder (1) and which engages a scraper screw (3) moved by a common drive.
