Provided is an apparatus for detecting a change in a specific gravity of a fluid surrounding the apparatus wherein the fluid moves upwardly and downwardly with respect to the apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing having a top and a plurality of openings for allowing the fluid to enter the housing. A first floatation device is provided having a first specific gravity and being located within the housing. The first floatation device includes a magnet. A second floatation device is provided having a second specific gravity and located within the housing adjacent said first floatation device. The said second floatation device includes a magnet aligned to have the same polarity as the magnet of the first floatation device. A switch fixedly attached to said top, the switch having an open state and a closed state where when one of said magnets is in proximity to the switch, the switch is in a closed state and wherein when both of said magnets are in proximity to said switch, the switch is in an open state. A signaling device is coupled to the switch wherein said signaling device is activated when the switch is in the closed state.

A method of measuring liquid level in a tank. An electromechanical liquid level gauge (ESG) is provided including a processor, a displacer suspended on a wire from a grooved drum having a servo motor coupled thereto to rotate the drum for balancing the displacer. A change in liquid level causes a change in a counterforce to move the ESG out of balance. The processor monitors a torque sensor output, and controls movement of the motor using a programmed apparent weight (AW) setpoint to raise or lower the displacer based on an AW derived from the torque. An associated memory stores a density compensated fixed immersion depth level gauging algorithm. The algorithm implements obtaining a density reading for the liquid, continuously corrects an immersion depth of the displacer for changes in density to provide an essentially fixed immersion depth, and calculates the liquid level from the density reading and immersion depth.

A method of sensing the density includes positioning the biased float (30) in the fluid and sensing the position of the float (30) to obtain data representative of the density of the fluid.

La presente invención consta de un dispositivo capaz de sujetar un producto alimentario entre dos placas, de manera que conectado a un texturómetro permita analizar la mojabilidad de estos productos. Para el análisis de este parámetro se sumerge el producto en un líquido y se registra la fuerza que se opone al movimiento del producto alimentario, obteniéndose información de la absorción del líquido y la retención del mismo en el producto alimentario una vez extraído del líquido. Este sistema de medida permite, tanto analizar el comportamiento de distintos productos alimentarios cuando se mojan en un líquido determinado, como analizar el comportamiento de distintos líquidos cuando un producto alimentario se sumerge en ellos.

Die Feder (30, 40) ist als Spiralblattfeder gestaltet und vorzugsweise als Ausschnitt aus einem ebenen Blech gefertigt. Die Vorrichtung (10) wird vorzugsweise zum Bestimmen der Dichte von Kraftstoff verwendet, wobei ein in einem Lagertank für Kraftstoff vorhandenes magnetostriktives Füllstandmesssystem genutzt wird.

Structure is provided to prevent fueling a kerosene heater by other than operatively associated fluid discriminating structure (28). A float (56, 156) including magnetic or light-responsive actuators is calibrated to permit or cease operation of a kerosene supply (36) responsive to the position of the float in the fluid. A fluid less dense than kerosene, such as gasoline, will cause the float to sink within the fluid and thereby terminate the flow of fluid to the kerosene heater.

Eine Auswerteeinrichtung (5) berechnet in Abhängigkeit des Messsignals (4) und der Dichte des Messumformers einen Messwert für die Dichte der Flüssigkeit und durch den Messumformer wird schließlich ein Signal zur Anzeige des Messwerts ausgegeben.
