Abstract:
The invention concerns a film-winding device with a drive motor, a film-feed mechanism (1) and two skid-shaped guides (2, 3) forming a channel for the film. One of the guides is rigidly connected to the feed mechanism and can be displaced, together with the feed mechanism, relative to the second guide. The shaft (41 of the drive-motor (4) and the drive shaft (11) of the film-feed mechanism (1) are rigidly connected to each other by a coupling (5). The film-feed mechanism (1), together with the film guide (2) fixed to it, can be displaced relative to the second guide (3) without using the drive motor (4).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A film transport (30) and method for use with an image transfer system to sequentially register respective frames of motion picture film within the field of view of an image recorder (14). The transport (30) includes a gate (60) having a drive mechanism and a registration mechanism that immobilizes each frame and orients it into a precise stationary position for digital or analog image recording.
Abstract:
A motion-picture-projection system has a top intermittent sprocket (1) and a bottom intermittent sprocket (6) that are rotated intermittently in unison by mechanical and/or electrical means (8, 9, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24) for conveyance of film (3) through a film gate (4) without formation of loops of film between the top intermittent sprocket and the film-gate outlet sprocket. To compensate for differences of length of unreeled film due to its cyclic advance and film-frame stoppage, compensatory loops (16, 17) are formed prior to instead of after a top intermittent sprocket and after instead of before a film-gate outlet sprocket. A film-contact surface (25, 26) of a film gate is arcuate and bordered with non-abrasive and suitably pliable material to minimize film wear. Air can be pumped onto the film for cooling and for distortion contamination resulting from heat absorption formation that is related to film "breathing". Electronic monitoring of film speed, frame-dwell time, heat, light, film noise, film flutter, film condition, compensatory-loop conditions, equipment functioning, equipment condition and other projection aspects with optionally automatic warnings, operational adjustments and electrical shutdown are provided. A use method is described.
Abstract:
A new 35mm film print (88), film printer and projector (196) method and apparatus are disclosed for 1:1 optical replication of useable wide screen (58) formats defined by established boundaries of wide screen camera composition relative to the useable image width of 35mm print film, for consolidation of said useable formatted images (58) onto shortened distribution prints (88) and for exhibition of said short prints in motion picture theaters. A new interframe film pitch produces substantially shortened prints without reduction or cropping of the useable images of original production negatives.
Abstract:
A lens impact protection apparatus that is removably attachable around a forward portion of a camera lens. The lens impact protection apparatus includes a plurality of bumper components that are circumferentially spaced around an adjustable belt component, which is used to attach the lens impact protection apparatus to the camera lens. The bumper components are positioned to have at least front portions thereof extending over a front or forward surface of the camera lens when the lens impact protection apparatus is attached to the camera lens. The bumper components are designed to absorb an impact force and to redistribute the impact force to the back and/or side of a barrel of the camera lens through a rocker or teeter-totter motion of the bumper components.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A camera uses a cartridge (1) comprising flexible flanges (5, 6) provided on both ends of a spool (3) in the cartridge and having annular projections which serve to prevent a roll of film from loosening and apply press-forces in directions of the width of the film. Rail surfaces (9a) and concave surfaces (9c, 9e) provided on a feed wall surface (9d) relieve curling correcting forces from the film which might deform by the forces, whereby a good planar surface of the film is ensured.
Abstract:
A film trap and gate assembly (24) for use on a motion picture projector (10). The film trap (26) includes an image aperture (60) and a first and second trap rail assembly (64A, 64B). The film trap further includes a stripper plate (72) having an angled stripper blade (94) attached to an attachment flange (92). The stripper blade is attached to the attachment flange at an at least one degree angle, preferably biased towards the trap body (58). The film gate (28) includes a projection aperture (54) and a first and second gate rail assembly (104A, 104B). A film tensioning assembly (110) is attached to the gate body (100), the film tensioning device having a deformable body (112) disposing at least two tensioning rollers (118; 120), and an adjustable tensioning device. When assembled, the film trap and gate assembly (24) forms a film movement channel to guide the film (14) past an illumination source (30), while reducing the contact between the film strip (14) and the film trap and gate assembly (24). Consequently, the number of showing of a motion picture film is substantially increased.
Abstract:
The invention has a plurality of embodiments in which an image modifier (20) is located at either the film plane or gate (18) or an intermediate focussing plane of the camera (10). In one embodiment, the modifier may be moved to two positions, one position within the optical path to modify the image and a second position removed from the optical path so as not to modify the image. In another embodiment the modifier may be attached to the film or film cartridge. In still another embodiment the modifier may take the form of a camera attachment.
