Modern large buildings and public places are equipped with a plurality of elevators, exits and points of interest for fluent movement. The passenger flows in a building or public place can be traced and modelled by using statistics and in- formation regarding current state of the modelled building or public place. The information derived from this model can be used for controlling elevators, escalators and similar in the building more efficiently. The same information may be used also for guiding passengers in the building or public place to use other transportation means so that the duration high traffic situation can be reduced or sometimes completely avoided.

The invention is related to a method for controlling a physical unit (2), comprising the steps of: - cyclically generating a plurality of controlling outputs, wherein the plurality of controlling outputs is provided in a redundant manner; - applying a selected one of the controlling outputs to the physical unit (2); - checking if at least the selected controlling output is correct; and - selecting one of the control units whose controlling output was checked as correct to apply its controlling output to the physical unit (2) in a subsequent cycle, characterized in that the step of applying the selected one of the controlling outputs to the physical unit (2) is performed before or during the step of checking.

The invention relates to a method for preventing malfunctions in a signal processing system according to which a sequence of initial values (w) are read-in by an arithmetic unit (P1; P2; P3). An additional separate trend value logic unit (4) determines a trend value (T) from the initial values (w). An output value (y) and a trend value (T) are formed by the arithmetic unit (P1; P2; P3). If the trend values (T) determined by the arithmetic unit (P1; P2; P3) and by the trend value logic unit (4) coincide, the output value (y) is output. The invention also relates to a processor system which is used for carrying out such a method and which comprises at least one arithmetic unit (P1; P2; P3), one comparison device (3; 5) and one trend value logic unit (4).

A vehicle control apparatus which is capable of changing a control algorithm so that an environment which a user desires can be provided, and which is adapted to permit more sophisticated prevention of a vehicle theft. The vehicle control apparatus comprises a control unit provided with a first storage unit to store a vehicle control program formed of a plurality of program modules and a processing unit for making computation in accordance with this program and generating control instructions; and a portable memory unit provided with a second storage unit for storing at least program modules for forming the above-mentioned program, the control unit executing the program by reading out the program modules stored in the second storage member, whereby control instructions are generated.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a bus system comprising a bus to which at least one master, an output slave, and a safety monitor are connected. The output slave controls an output switch. The safety monitor controls a main switch that is serially connected to the output switch. A consumer is connected to a power supply via said switches. The master specifies the desired switched state of the output switch to the output slave by means of a control command. The output slave reads the control command and reports the desired switched state contained therein back to the bus. A time element delays the execution of the control command for a predefined waiting period. The safety monitor makes a positive assessment, according to which the reported desired switched state is safe, or makes a negative assessment, according to which the reported desired switched state is not safe. The main switch is opened and the consumer is thus isolated from the power supply when the assessment is negative. The waiting period is calculated such that the main switch is already open before the output switch responds to a control command when the assessment is negative.
