Abstract:
A collapsible ballot box comprises an enclosure having a base, side walls and a lid, wherein the side walls are formed of a flexible material. The box further comprises first elongate stiffening elements for the side walls in the form of lengths of rigid plastics tubing. Where the enclosure is rectangular-box shaped, the first stiffening elements are provided in the vertical comers. The box also comprises second elongate stiffening elements for the edges of the lid in the form of a rigid band.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a box (10) for packaging electronic voting machines, which guarantees safety thereof, protecting it against weathering, impacts, corrosion, moisture, attempts to tamper with it, and that has a long useful life, so that it can be used several times. The box according to the present invention is made from reinforced plastic, which comprises an identification means (20) in at least one of its faces, accommodating the voting machine in an optimized way.
Abstract:
The invention is concerned with a distributing/collecting unit for client feed-back of table type, wherein a little surface area is achieved for the part coming against the surface of the plane of the bottom (1) of the stand by directing the container to be upwards sloping in relation to the part coming against the surface of the plane of the bottom (1) and that the uniform stand forms the front, side and lower edges of the fixed place for forms and the front part (8) of the container forms the rear edge. The container part of the invention, is, when needed, formed by a changeable front part (8) and rear part (19). The invention directs the forms to be used therein in an upwards sloping angle against a client positioned at the invention, who also from the same direction can see the return opening (9) for these. The invention can as such and immdiately without changes be used in the same rooms or be transfered to different rooms, only by, when needed, changing the forms intended to be used in it. It is, when needed, possible to see inside the container of the invention through the lid (4) of the stand without opening the lid. Furthermore, the fastening mechanism between the stand and the container of the invention is fast and easy to use.
Abstract:
Circuits and methods for determining a majority vote from a plurality of inputs. An example circuit includes a voting input stage, a transfer stage, and an accumulating stage. The voting input stage includes at least three input switched capacitors. The transfer stage includes transfer switched capacitors corresponding to the input switched capacitors. The transfer switched capacitors charge a voting capacitor corresponding to each input switched capacitor during a state of a clock signal. The accumulating stage includes accumulating switched capacitors connecting the voting capacitors in series. The accumulating switched capacitors cause the charges of the voting capacitors to be accumulated during an alternate state of the clock signal. The accumulated charge of the voting capacitors represents a majority vote of the input switched capacitors.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a system (10) and method (100) for controlling and operating a lock (18, 300). The invention extends to an electronic smart key (16) for controlling the lock (18, 300). The lock (18) can be used to secure a consignment of examination papers or other confidential information, for example. The lock (18, 300) is a passive component which is inductively powered by the portable smart key (16) when the key (16) is brought into close proximity to the lock (18). In order to unlock the lock (18, 300), pre-defined lock operating criteria, which have been preloaded to the smart key (16), have to be satisfied. The criteria specify geographic and time parameters within which the smart key (16) can be used to unlock the lock (18, 300). Outside of these parameters, the smart key (16) will not unlock the lock (18, 300).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A ballot counter is provided, which can be attached to either new or existing ballot boxes, the ballot box defining a slot through which a ballot paper can be inserted. The ballot counter comprises one or more optical sensors, locatable proximate the slot of the ballot box, to acquire movement data of a ballot paper that is being inserted or removed from the ballot box. A microprocessor, containing an internal program, receives the movement data and determines when a ballot paper has been dropped into the ballot box. The counter further includes a display to provide a visual display count of the number of ballots that have been inserted. A battery is provided to power the components of the ballot counter for an extended period of time
Abstract:
A desk-top image scanning/reading transmission/reception printer (30) and a floor-installation image scanning/reading transmission/reception printer (40) have an image scanning/reading function using an optical sensor (CCD) and a printing function or an Internet terminal function and are connected to a router, which is an Internet terminal, installed in an office or a home so as to enable data communication through a cable or by radio. The image scanning/reading transmission/reception printer transmits/receives a read image file created by scanning/reading a document or a printed object by means of an optical sensor to the transmission destination indicated by the facsimile address newly set as transmission destination data or to the IP telephone number of the destination Internet terminal over the Internet through a facsimile server which is a newly installed facsimile file transmission/reception server.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Voter-generated ballots created using consumer-grade printers are remade to ballots scannable by specialized ballot scanners. The voter-generated ballots include a machine-readable indicia, such as a two-dimensional barcode, that encodes ballot information. The ballot information includes choices made by the voter and information for use in remaking the ballot. Voters wish to submit their votes using printouts from non-specialized printers such as those found at their homes or offices; yet election officials wish to tabulate votes using scanners that require specialized, high-quality ballots. The disclosed systems and methods bridge this gap.
