Abstract:
Aging is performed by applying an aging voltage via inductors (301, 401, 302, 402, 303, 403) respectively connected to a data electrode, a scan electrode, and a maintenance electrode. The aging voltage waveform applied to the data electrode has a ringing waveform whose frequency is set to 1/2 to 2(twice) of the frequency of the ringing waveform of the aging voltage waveform applied to the scan electrode. Thus, it is possible to significantly reduce the aging time and perform aging with preferable power efficiency. It is also possible to obtain a desired inductance by adjusting the length of each of the lead lines (401, 402, 403) without using the inductors (301, 302, 303) such as coils.

Abstract:
A technique, in the field of PDP of reliably performing write even during a short write period. When a scanning pulse is applied during a write period, a write auxiliary discharge of a scale smaller than that of the write discharge is caused at least in or around a cell where selective write is performed among a plurality of cells. As a result, priming particles are produced by the write auxiliary discharge in or around the cell where selective write is performed, and therefore the space in the cell is brought into a state in which a write discharge is easily caused.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for reverse-gamma correction of a plasma display panel, which can improve image quality in a low gray scale region by calculating an output of gamma depending on an APL. The method includes selecting a plurality of APL points in an APL curve; calculating the number of sustain pulses for each subfield based on an APL point, calculating a luminance value at each of the APL points based on an SFM level; calculating an output luminance value at each of the APL points based on an input gray scale to which gamma characteristics are applied; and calculating an output of gamma at each of the APL points based on an input gray scale.
Abstract:
A method of controlling electrodes of a pixel in a plasma display panel. The method includes applying a first voltage to a first electrode of the pixel during a sustain discharge involving the first electrode, and applying a second voltage to a second electrode of the pixel. The first voltage and the second voltage have a relationship that encourages the sustain discharge to extend to the second electrode.
Abstract:
Set-up, write, sustain and erase pulses are variously applied to a plasma display panel using a staircase waveform in which the rising or falling portion is in at least two steps. These staircase waveforms can be realized by adding at least two pulses. Use of such waveforms for the set-up, write and erase pulses improves contrast, and use for the sustain pulses reduces screen flicker and improves luminous efficiency. This is of particular use in driving high definition plasma display panels to achieve high image quality and high luminance.
