An electrical contact (100,300,400,500,600) is for a vacuum switching apparatus (2). The vacuum switching apparatus includes a second electrical contact (200). The electrical contact includes a body (102,302,402,502,602) having a center point (104,304,404,604) and a periphery (106,306,406,606), the body including a plurality of arcing surfaces (110,112,114,310, 312,314,316,410,412,414,416,512,514,612,614) structured to face in a first direction (120,320, 420,520) toward the second electrical contact and structured to move into and out of engagement with the second electrical contact, and a plurality of arc spinning portions (130,140,150,330,340, 350,360,430,440,450,460,540,640) each defining a slot extending inwardly from the periphery generally toward the center point, the plurality of arc spinning portions generally separating the plurality of arcing surfaces from one another. At least one arc spinning portion narrows from a corresponding pair of adjacent arcing surfaces of the body to an interior thereof in a second direction (122,322,422,522) opposite the first direction.

A switching device (1) for an encapsulated electric power distribution switchgear comprising a switch (10), an electrically conductive housing (20) to which the switch is mounted, and which housing (20) comprises an opening (24) that leads into the housing (20). The switch comprises a first electric contact (12) connected to a first conductor (16) and a second electric contact (14) connected to a second conductor (18), the second contact being movable in relation to the first contact and in relation to the housing. The further comprises an operating shaft (30) of electrically insulating material being rotatable about its longitudinal axis Y in relation to the housing, and which is inserted into the housing via the opening (24), and an actuator member (40) located inside the housing and having a first end (42) coupled to the shaft and a second (44) end coupled to the second contact (14). The actuator member is made of an electrically insulating material. The shaft (30) extends through the opening (24) and into the housing without directly contacting the housing (20) and is supported in the housing (20) by the actuator member. The actuator member (40) is movably supported in the housing (20) at a connection area (26) that forms an interface (27) between the actuator member and the housing. The interface is located at a distance D from the longitudinal axis Y of the shaft that is longer than a distance d between the longitudinal axis Y of the shaft and a circumferential edge (23) that delimits the opening (24) in the housing, which first and second distances are measured in the same radial direction in relation to the longitudinal axis Y.

An interface assembly (30,130) is for an electrical switching apparatus (2,102). The electrical switching apparatus includes a housing (4,104), a first handle (6,106) partially extending through the housing, separable contacts (8,108) located within the housing, an operating mechanism (10,110) to open and close the separable contacts, a main printed circuit board (12,112) located within the housing, and a number of electrical rating settings (14,114) associated with the main printed circuit board. Each of the electrical rating settings has a magnitude. The interface assembly includes: a base assembly (32,132) comprising a base (34,134), the base being disposed on the housing, the base having a mounting surface (36,136); and a second handle (38,138) coupled to the mounting surface, the second handle and the first handle being structured to drive each other. The mounting surface has at least one port (60,80,160,180). The magnitude of a corresponding one of the electrical rating settings is visible through the at least one port.
