摘要:
Battery operated prostheses and systems having increased energy efficiency are disclosed. A prosthesis includes a first and second limb member coupled to an actuator to form a joint. The prosthesis further includes a rechargeable battery electrically coupled to the actuator. The actuator uses energy received from the rechargeable battery to actuate the first limb member relative to the second limb member. During at least a portion of a gait cycle of a wearer of the prosthesis, the actuator converts kinetic energy into first electrical energy that is greater than second electrical energy supplied to the actuator from the rechargeable battery. The prosthesis further includes a recharging circuit. The recharging circuit can receive at least a portion of the first electrical energy from the electric actuator and can supply some of the at least a portion of the first electrical energy to the rechargeable battery to recharge the rechargeable battery.

A mobile X-ray apparatus and a method of controlling power in the mobile X-ray apparatus. According to the mobile X-ray apparatus and the method, the mobile X-ray apparatus includes a battery management system that determines whether a battery is shut down when in a forced charge mode, subsequently determines whether the battery exits an over-discharged state, and then controls a power supply to enter a shutdown mode or a normal charge mode according to results of the determining. Thus, it is possible to safely charge the battery.

Electrical apparatuses with connector overheating protection and methods for protecting electrical apparatuses from connector overheating during current sinking and current sourcing operations are presented. The electrical apparatus includes an electrical connector and a temperature sensor, which is in direct contact with a physical part of the electrical connector. The temperature sensor monitors a temperature of the electrical connector during current sinking and current sourcing operations. During current sinking, if the temperature sensor senses a predetermined level of overheating of the electrical connector, then the sourcing of current to the electrical apparatus is switched off. During current sourcing, if the temperature sensor senses a predetermined level of overheating of the electrical connector, then the sourcing of current to the sinking device is switched off. Switching off the source of current prevents overheating of the electrical connector and protects the electrical apparatus during current sinking and current sourcing operations.
