Abstract:
Handover of broadcast audio/video content from a first/source device via an intermediate device to a second/destination device. The intermediate device is set up to receive by its own means the same broadcast audio/video content as received by the first/source device. If interruption of play out of the audio/video content by the first/source device is detected by the intermediate device, the intermediate device stores the received audio/video broadcast in timeshift memory. When a presence of the second/destination is detected, the intermediate device connects to the second/destination device and starts timeshifted streaming to the second/destination device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating and modifying an adaptive electronic program guide are described including receiving program content and program information, creating the adaptive electronic program guide, determining if there has been a hard failure in delivery of the program content and modifying the adaptive electronic program guide to indicate the program content is unavailable if there has been a hard failure in delivery of the program content. Further described are a method and apparatus for generating and modifying an adaptive electronic program guide including receiving program content and program information, creating the adaptive electronic program guide, determining if the program content is available on viewer's set top box and modifying the adaptive electronic program guide to indicate a time remaining to download or stream the program content.
Abstract:
A method for a content provider to manage broadcast content including selecting content to be broadcast, determining a category of the selected content, tagging the selected content and transmitting the tagged selected content to a content aggregator for broadcasting. Also described is a method for a content aggregator to broadcast content including receiving selected content from a content provider, determining when to broadcast the selected content and determining whether to broadcast any part of the selected content prior to a schedule time and broadcasting the selected content responsive to the determining step.
Abstract:
To generate a media station, a client device can receive a candidate media item playlist and media playback rules corresponding to the media station. When a new media item is needed for the media station, the client device can apply the media playback rules to a next media item in the list of candidate media items. The playback rules can be used to determine whether the next media item is currently eligible for playback. Additionally, the client device can receive a candidate invitational content item playlist and invitational content playback rules corresponding to the media station. In response to detecting an invitational content triggering action, the client device can apply the invitational content item rules to the candidate invitational content item playlist to select at least one invitational content item to present in the media stream.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and a device for transmitting a broadcasting service, for signaling non-real-time (NRT) 3D broadcasting contents. The device for transmitting a broadcasting service comprises: an NRT contents encoder for encoding stereoscopic image contents including a reference image and an additional image, and generating an NRT stream; an NRT signaling information encoder for generating an NRT signaling information including at least one of a service map table (SMT) corresponding to the contents, and a non-real-time-information table (NRT-IT); and a multiplex unit for multiplexing the NRT stream and the NRT signaling information, and transmitting to a reception device. Thus, the present invention enables the provision of contents even when the reference image and the additional image are encoded in a dual stream format.

Abstract:
The disclosed methods and systems provide for a preference engine driven personalized music service that can be implemented in consumer electronic device, such as set top box, that is capable of receiving a digital broadcast stream containing music. The personalized music service described herein does not require the consumer electronic device to have two-way communication. The necessary processing can be done on the device itself removing the need to transmit information to a remote server for processing. The method involves receiving a digital broadcast stream containing music. One or more songs are then selected from the digital broadcast stream based on a music preference for a user. The one or more selected songs can then be assembled into a custom station.
Abstract:
A system and method thereof for the delivery of focused alternate-content and advertisements 201 to mobile devices 170, that selectively targets groups in a bandwidth limited multicast wireless video transmission, is shown. The limited wireless bandwidth does not allow multiple focused alternate-content to be transmitted during allowed spot time to effectively cover all the target groups. The invention enables the pre-delivery and selective buffering of alternate content files, on a mobile device 170, for each target group. Accordingly, means for viewing of alternate-content by the specific groups by setting multiple markers within the transmission and sending metadata in the form of an addressable spot-guide are provided. A spot-guide enables the choice of the correct alternate- content from buffered set to be displayed at the spot time during viewing.
Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for capturing information associated with wireless audio sounds among a plurality of users. When a user encounters audio sound files of interest, the user can capture information regarding the audio sounds, such as title, artist, collection, genre, year, encoding rate, size, playlist, a unique identifier, or other desired information. The information can be used to seamlessly purchase the sound files from a remote digital repository.
