Abstract:
A method and device are provided for allocating resources in a DSL network, comprising the steps of a first-tier DSL network element receiving a resource requirement of a second-tier DSL subscriber line, the first-tier DSL network element determining a resource requirement of a first-tier DSL subscriber line, and the first-tier DSL network element allocating resources to the first-tier DSL subscriber line based on the resource requirements of the first and second tier DSL subscriber lines.
Abstract:
A system and method for presenting an interactive visual feedback, based upon input parameters, indicating quality levels in terminal location detection in a network at selectable points an a map. The system and method includes an application in which a user provides information regarding network terminals, terminal locations, and map parameters. In response, the application then provides a visual indication of expected accuracy in geolocation calculations for terminals at specific points in a network map.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for per-session dynamic management of media gateway resources are disclosed. According to one method, the logical and physical resources in a media gateway are divided and dynamically managed at the Transport Layer (i.e. OSI Layer 4), which results in finer granularity than managing such resources statically at the Data Link Layer (i.e. OSI Layer 2) or Network Layer (i.e. OSI Layer 3). Voice-processing resources provided by voice server cards may be pooled into a common pool available to all external networks. For each new call/session, the dynamic resource manager of the media gateway dynamically allocates a voice chip from the pooled voice processing resources, and assigns a logical resource identifier (e.g. a local IP and local UDP pair) to the session. When a network interface card receives incoming voice packets, it checks the destination IP and UDP and optionally the source IP and UDP to find out, and forward voice packets to, the voice chip assigned to the session.
Abstract:
A cellular communications network including a base station subsystem (110) including a base station controller communicably coupled to a plurality of base stations (112), a user accessible mobile wireless communications device configuration control server (140) coupled to the base station subsystem (110), an network broadcast transmitting assisting base station (130), which may be coupled to the user accessible mobile wireless communications device configuration control server or to the base station subsystem. A mobile station is configured with configuration information associated with the assisting base station when the mobile station monitors the assisting base station.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an operation and maintenance center (OMC 7) that comprises a test device (8) which initiates, if alarm notifications (1) are received by the OMC (7), a test in response to said alarm in the hardware (5) of the telecommunications network (6) associated with said alarm. and transmits the results of said test to a superordinate national maintenance center (NMC 10) indicating the components which are affected by said alarm notification (1). The test is carried out in the OMC (7) according to a table (11), taking into consideration the manufacturer-specific peculiarities of the hardware (5) affected by the error notification (1).
Abstract:
An automated order processing system for a telecommunications services carrier is capable of activating customer orders and provisioning telecommunications services for customers. The system includes a client application including a graphical user interface for receiving one or more customer orders from a remote location, each customer order having at least one unique identifier, the client application further up-front validating the format of customer order received. A server application is provided for entering the validated customer orders in a database storage device, prior to initiating customer order activation and provisioning. In addition to controlling the order entry, activation, provisioning and installation processes, the server application tracks the status of each customer order by receiving status information updates for each customer order throughout the entry, activation, provisioning and installation process, and accordingly updates the database storage. The system additionally provides a report generating function providing customers with up to date information about their accounts via the client graphical user interface.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
A wireless communication system (100) contains a number of service providers (145, 148, 149) that provide different services to communication units (105-108). The communication units (105-108) are limited as to how many of the services they can concurrently receive. Each communication unit (105-108) is associated with a service manage agent (SMA) (185-190) that manages the provision of the services to the communication unit (105-108). In one embodiment, each SMA (185-190) manages the provision of the services to only one of the communication units (105-108).
