Abstract:
Electronic arrangement (106) for dynamically reserving quota having regard to the capacity of one or more resources available in a communications network (110), comprises one or more data interfaces such as transceivers for transferring data, at least one processor for processing instructions and other data, and memory for storing the instructions and other data, said at least one processor being configured, in accordance with the stored instructions, to cause: receiving a quota request with indication of a requested extent of quota, wherein the quota request is further associated with all-or-none preference indicator as to whether the request should be fulfilled completely, obtaining an indication of a currently remaining, unused and unreserved, quota of an account associated with the quota request, determining whether and to which degree, including in full, in part and not at all, the request may be granted in terms of reserving the requested quota based on at least the requested extent, the remaining quota and the preference indicator, wherein the indicator is utilized in the determination so that indicated preference on complete fulfillment of quota request translates into reduced criterion in quota allocation and vice versa, and providing a response to the quota request indicative of extent of granted, reserved quota, if any, where the response optionally refers to a signaling message. A corresponding method (300) for reserving quota is presented.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and software providing a charging solution for service continuity. In one embodiment, a Session Management Function (SMF) of a next generation network allocates a first User Plane Function (UPF) element as an anchor point of a first Packet Data Unit (PDU) session for a service accessed by User Equipment (UE). The SMF reports charging information for the first PDU session to a charging system. The SMF allocates a second UPF element as an anchor point for a second PDU session for the service in response to a trigger condition. When the anchor point is relocated in this manner for a service, the SMF reports charging information for the second PDU session and the charging information for the first PDU session to the charging system.
Abstract:
A system (10-11), apparatus (10), and method (31-32) for controlling data usage at a customer premises (12). A gateway (11) configured as a single point of entry receives all data entering the premises. All data usage by client devices within the premises is monitored. A DataCap Management Unit (10) adjusts a premises bandwidth cap throughout a billing cycle to prevent the data usage from exceeding a data cap before the billing cycle ends.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes a video interconnect system that may establish a Video over Long Term Evolution (ViLTE) communication session between two interacting client devices. In some examples, the video interconnect system may selectively establish a ViLTE communication based on one or more rules associated with the domain information of interacting client devices, availability of network bandwidth, bandwidth consumption of a video component of the ViLTE communication, or established service agreements between telecommunication service providers of the interacting client devices. Further, the video interconnect system may facilitate generating termination charges for a video and/or audio communication session of a ViLTE communication. For example, a video component of the ViLTE communication may be charged and metered based on data usage, and an audio component of the ViLTE communication may be charged and metered based on the duration and relative location of the interacting client devices.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and software that distribute accounting requests to a plurality of Charging Data Functions (CDFs). One embodiment comprises a distributor unit that connects to the CDFs, which register their queues with the distributor unit. When receiving an accounting request (e.g., interim or stop) for a session, the distributor unit extracts an identifier from the accounting request indicating a destination queue previously selected for the session. When the destination queue is not accepting new sessions or ongoing sessions, the distributor unit identifies a prioritized list for the session, identifies a position of the destination queue in the prioritized list, searches the prioritized list for an alternate queue having a lower priority than the destination queue, and having a status indicating that the alternate queue is accepting new sessions. The distributor unit then selects the alternate queue as an alternate destination queue for the session.
Abstract:
Machine-readable media, methods, apparatus and system for sponsored data connectivity related information (SDCRI) control and transmission in a wireless network. In some embodiments, an apparatus to be implemented as a sponsored data connectivity function (SDCF) may comprise a control module to configure sponsored data connectivity related information (SDCRI); and an interface module to transmit a request associated with the SDCRI to a policy and charging enforcement function (PCEF) or a traffic detection function (TDF), based at least in part on a network operator's policy.
