    Abstract: A method and system for facsimile data transmission via network and a device and method for packaging data. When the volume of data received by a gateway from the PSTN side and buffered arrives at the threshold, the data buffered are packaged and sent, and at the same time the buffer area is cleared. And then, data from the PSTN side are received unceasingly and the volume of data received and buffered is compared with the threshold. When a frame ending signal is received by the gateway, if there is some data buffered in the buffer area, the data in the buffer area are all packaged and sent, and the frame ending signal is also packaged and sent, regardless of whether the volume of data in the buffer area reaches the threshold, and if there is no data buffered in the buffer area, the frame ending signal is packaged and sent directly. By restricting the maximum volume of data carried by a data package and therefore restricting delay caused by packaging the buffered data by the upward gateway, it is guaranteed that the V.21 frame signal data could timely and accurately arrive at a facsimile apparatus of the receiving side during transmission.

    Abstract: Control information on the modem for each address is stored.     Abstract: An improved system for transmitting and receiving digital images includes means for storing portions of an incoming data packet in memory while the data packet is still being received from the data source, and extract the framing characters from the incoming data stream into separate buffers. This allows the next data packet to be requested very quickly due to the ability to perform the data validation testing immediately upon receiving the last character of the packet. This immediate validation feature allows the remaining data of the packet to be processed into memory concurrently with the reception of a new data packet from the data source. This 'semi-concurrent' processing ability of the invention greatly reduces the time required to transfer the image data by reducing the time between the reception of an end-of-line character and the time the logic and control unit can request a new line, and by curtailing the delay between the data request by the invention, and the start of the data packet transmission by the data source.
