Abstract:
A controller (100) establishes a path in a protocol converter (30) based on call setting information from a caller's terminal. A signal monitor (300) monitors main data (220a) transferred through the path between terminals. Upon detecting a specific connection acknowledgment sequence, the signal monitor (300) informs the controller (100) of the results. The controller (100) specifies the protocol of the caller's terminal and the recipient's terminal based on the informed results so that the best protocol processing can be carried out for the protocol converter (31O).
Abstract:
The time required for data communication equipment to make communication handshaking is reduced by executing a pre-communication procedure based on pre-stored communication parameters. To be concrete, the modulation mode, communication protocol, MODEM parameters, optimum MODEM training time, etc., set through four communication channels; a communication channel for selecting a modulation mode, communication channel for probing a line, communication channel for training MODEM, and communication channel for setting MODEM parameters are stored at every destination communication equipment and the subsequent communication is performed based on the stored information.
Abstract:
A telefacsimile module (600) is connected between a conventional telefacsimile machine (host telefacsimile unit) (500) and a phone line interface (18). The module receives conventional fax output from its host unit and retransmits them to a destination telefacsimile machine in one of standard and high speed modes depending on the compatibility of the destination telefacsimile. The standard mode communication employs a conventional fax format for both text and graphics. The high speed mode distinguishes text from graphics and performs optical character recognition on suspected character information.
Abstract:
A method for T.38 gateway processing non-standard frames, wherein the T.38 gateway comprises at least a transmitting gateway and a receiving gateway, and the transmitting gateway connects to a transmitting facsimile, and the receiving gateway connects to a receiving facsimile, comprises that: a) the transmitting gateway and the receiving gateway judge the types of all of the received V.21 frame; b) when the receiving gateway or the transmitting gateway receives an NSF non-standard frame, modify the NSF non-standard frame, and proceed to transmit the modified non-standard frame. The method of the present invention modifies the facsimile process in which the facsimile rate is negotiated in private frame by the gateway to a process in which negotiation is implemented in standard frame, which ensures the rate parameter can be extracted by the gateway correctly, and the network facsimile can be processed normally.
Abstract:
A Protocol Fax Box (PFB) receives information, determines destinations for the information, and converts the information protocol and data, if necessary, for transmission to the destinations. The PFB has plural interfaces from which it receives and sends data. Upon receiving information on one of its interfaces, the PFB creates a set of objects for handling the transfer of the information from the incoming interface to an outgoing, or destination, interface. A source object handles the incoming communication, a session object handles destination determination, and a destination object handles protocol conversion from the source interface to the destination interface. The session object also logs information regarding each session. The PFB may use a client server model to download information as needed from a network, or have processing be performed on the network.
Abstract:
A system comprising a first network gateway coupled to a circuit-switched network, the first network gateway to initiate a tunnel through the circuit-switched network responsive to packetized fax relay data received from a packet-switched network, and a second network gateway couple to the circuit-switched network, the second network gateway to receive packetized fax relay data through a tunnel over the circuit-switched network from the first network gateway.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for allowing a transmitting facsimile device and a receiving facsimile device to select a preferable communications network or other preferred transmission parameters.
Abstract:
Preprocessing of picture signal communication is carried out on a control channel of a full-duplex modem. In transition of the picture signal communication to a primary channel of a half-duplex modem, when a called party confirms that 40 bits or more of all-'1' signals have been received from a calling party, a transmission carrier is stopped, and receiving of the all-one signals is restarted after the lapse of a predetermined time period. When the end of the all-'1' signals is confirmed, the picture signal communication is switched to the primary channel.
