Abstract:
Bit stream data including digital image signals and character data are inputted to a decoder. Bit map type character data are extracted by a multiplexer (1) and supplied to a data decoder (7). The word detecting unit (20) of the data decoder (7) detects lines containing error data. A line processor (40) detects lines in which errors exist and stores the addresses of the delimiters of the lines before and after the lines in which errors exist in a register. In displaying the data while the lines in a buffer memory (22) are read and the data are decoded, an arbitrary line can be displayed a plurality of times by the random jump on the buffer memory (22) and specific lines can be skipped. Instead of reading the lines in which errors exist, the lines before and after the lines containing errors on the memory are accessed to interpolate the character data line by line.
Abstract:
Digital data, such as a digital audio signal which differs from a two-channel digital audio signal in sampling frequency and number of quantized bits, or display data or program data, can be recorded in the same signal format as that of a two-channel digital audio signal. A code signal specifying that either a two-channel digital audio signal or digital data has been recorded, and control data giving the linear velocity of a digital disc during reproduction are inserted into every frame of a recording signal. One block of digital data is formed of a predetermined quantity of data, and the same control data as that employed to control digital processing is recorded at least twice in each block. During reproduction, the digital disc is rotated to provide a constant linear velocity in accordance with the control data, and a reproduction circuit is supplied with a clock signal of a frequency corresponding to the transfer rate of the reproduced data. The reproduced digital audio data from the reproduction circuit is converted to analog data, and the passband of a low-pass filter supplied with the reproduced analog audio signal can be made to conform to the band of the reproduced analog audio signal.
Abstract:
Video information intended to be reproduced on a television screen (1) often includes additional information such as graphics information (3) or subtitles (4) in addition to the main information such as film images (2). This additional information is transmitted separately, so that the user may choose whether the additional information is to be displayed or not. In the disclosed method the transmitted video signal comprises information relating to the duration (25) for which the additional information is to remain on the display. With this method the additional information can be displayed exactly for the duration of the desired time. When a video disc or tape is used for transferring video information, this is advantageous in trick modes, such as Fast Forward.
Abstract:
This apparatus comprises means for extracting at least the prefixed part of a text broadcasting information transmitted by use of the vertical blanking period of television signals; means for designating desired text information of the text information transmitted by the text broadcasting; means for separating only the desired text information according to the information recognized by the recognizing means; means for recording the desired text information thus separated; means for reproducing the recorded text information; and means for outputting the reproduced text information by inserting it into the given lines within the period of the vertical blanking.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for customizing media content, and particularly video content, by creating highlight portions thereof of the video content. VIn exemplary embodiments, the video files (20) are "marked" or "flagged" of "flagged" about the portions of the video content (22) to segment the highlight portions within the media file. The marks or flags may be inputted and incorporated as part of the metadata (24) associated with the video file. A user's electronic device (10) may then extract the marks or flags from the metadata, which causes a media player on the portable electronic device (63) to play only the marked highlight portions. In addition,A a user may share the highlights with others by transmitting the marked video files to others' electronic devices. Alternatively, the highlight creator may transmit only the metadata to another's electronic device, and the metadata marks may be extracted and applied to a video file stored on the other's device or streamed thereto.
Abstract:
An audio, visual, subtitle decoding system, for reproducing data from a composite media stream (102), wherein the stream may include a plurality of subtitle streams with corresponding decoders (146, 154...), wherein a decoded video stream is merged (158), simultaneously with multiple decoded subtile streams on one display unit (166), further providing a user model for simultaneously utilizing multiple streams.
Abstract:
Picture information intended for being displayed on a picture screen (1) contains not only the main information such as film pictures (2), but also overlay information such as graphic information (3) or subtitles (4). This is transmitted separately, encoded in packets of digital symbols in which a page of overlay information is represented by a group of packets. In the disclosed method, all the packets receive identification information (25, 26, 27) concerning the relation of a packet to the group. This makes it possible to ascertain whether a page of overlay information has been received completely. This avoids incomplete pages or combinations of parts of pages being displayed on the picture screen. This is advantageous in the case of interruptions of picture signal reception, such as a disturbed TV signal, or when a video disc or tape is used in trick modes such as Fast Forward.
Abstract:
A method and a text subtitle decoder for decoding a text subtitle stream recorded on a recording medium are disclosed. A subtitle loading buffer initially loads a text subtitle stream including a dialog style segment defining a group of region styles and a dialog presentation segment having dialog presentation information and dialog text data for a dialog having at least one region. A text subtitle processor parses the dialog presentation segment into composition information, rendering information, and the dialog text data for each region. Next, a text renderer renders the text strings into a bitmap object for each region according to the rendering information, and the rendered bitmap object is composed in a graphics plane.
