Abstract:
The invention relates to a precut die apparatus (30) arranged and adapted for use in a thermoform-trimming method and system (10) to produce plastic molded articles (27), and to the method and system (10) in which the apparatus (30) is employed. The precut apparatus (30) is positioned, in the method and system (10), between the form press (22) and the trim station (35). The precut apparatus (30) is arranged to precut, in a desired and selected manner, the thermoformed sheet material (12) containing thermoformed articles (27) therein, about the periphery of the thermoformed articles (27). The precut apparatus (30) provides for a bridged and joining area of the sheet material (12) to allow for slight movement and adjusting of the molded articles (27) for precise alignment in the punch and die trim step for the thermoforming and trimming operation.
Abstract:
A floor-covering article has an upper layer with yarns that extend through a primary backing and are at least partially secured to the primary backing by polymeric material, wherein the yarns define an exterior upper surface of the article; an intermediate layer connected to the upper layer; and a secondary backing connected to the intermediate layer so that the intermediate layer is positioned between the upper layer and the secondary backing. The article includes cut peripheral side edges. The length and/or width of the article can be at least about 3 feet. At least one of the peripheral side edges of the secondary backing can define an upright, outwardly-oriented side face extending obliquely to the bottom surface of the secondary backing.
Abstract:
A method and a device for parting a glass substrate not affected by the presence or absence of a film layer and the film thickness thereof and capable of scribing the glass substrate without damaging the film, the device comprising a peeling means 202 functioning as a cutter to remove a part of the film layer 1a such as a thin film and a resin film formed on one surface of the glass substrate 1 to expose the glass substrate 1 in a band shape and a wheel cutter 14a for forming a scribe for parting along the band-shaped area of the exposed glass substrate 1 the method comprising the step of parting the glass substrate 1 along the scribe.

A floor-covering article has an upper layer with yarns that extend through a primary backing and are at least partially secured to the primary backing by polymeric material, wherein the yams define an exterior upper surface of the article; an intermediate layer connected to the upper layer; and a secondary backing connected to the intermediate layer so that the intermediate layer is positioned between the upper layer and the secondary backing. The article includes cut peripheral side edges. The length and/or width of the article can be at least about 91 cm (3 feet). At least one of the peripheral side edges of the secondary backing can define an upright, outwardly-oriented side face extending obliquely to the bottom surface of the secondary backing.
Abstract:
A method of cutting a quilted material web (20) into a panel (24) having a quilted pattern (32) therein. A mark (48) is applied to the quilted material web at a location within a width and length of the panel; and the quilted material web is moved in a longitudinal direction with respect to the panel. The mark is detected while moving the quilted material web, and a controller (219) determines, with respect to the mark, cutter positions that define the width and the length of the panel. Thereafter, cutters (120, 150, 152) operated by the controller cut the quilted web material along the width and the length of the panel, thereby cutting the panel from the quilted material web.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus (1) for cutting a ribbon (2) of rubber-coated fabric including a plurality of reinforcing cords (3), intended in particular for manufacturing semi-finished reinforcing products of a green tire, are described. The method of the invention comprises the steps of forming at a working position (W) a notch (24) of predetermined length extending between two adjacent cords (3) along a cutting direction (C-C) by means of a punching device (4) cooperating with an abutting counter-blade (7); inserting at least one cutting blade (19) through the notch (24) causing the same to pass at least partly over the lying plane of the ribbon (2); and carrying out a first and a second cut of the ribbon (2) by shifting the blade (19) along the cutting direction (C-C) for a first portion extending between the notch (24) and a first lateral edge (25) of the ribbon (2) and, respectively, for a second portion extending between the notch (24) and an opposite lateral edge (26) of the ribbon (2). Advantageously, the risk of damaging or cutting the reinforcing cords (3) is minimized, thereby minimizing both the amount of production scraps and the risk of jamming the automatic machines for manufacturing green tires.
