摘要: An access needle is provided. The access needle includes a needle housing and a needle shaft having a portion disposed within the needle housing. The access needle also includes a lumen within the needle shaft, an entry port at a proximal end of the needle shaft, and a needle tip at a distal end of the needle shaft. The access needle also includes an exit port on a sidewall of the needle shaft, wherein the exit port is disposed nearer the distal end of the needle shaft than the proximal end, and wherein the lumen extends from the entry port to the exit port. The exit port a reduced diameter from the needle shaft. Guide surfaces in the vicinity of the exit port help to reduce snagging or drag of the guide wire. The access needle tip can be formed from nitinol and the guide surfaces can be formed from UV or AB glue. A system and a method for using the access needle are also provided.

摘要: An apparatus includes a shaft, a balloon, a tip member, and a heating feature. The tip member is distal to the balloon and has a larger outer diameter than the shaft. The heating feature is operable to ablate tissue of the Eustachian tube contacting the balloon in the expanded state. The heating feature may include an illuminating element and a photosensitive coating on the balloon. Alternatively, the heating feature may include a thermal heating element that heats the balloon inflation fluid and thereby heats the wall of the balloon. Another apparatus includes a shaft, a tip member, and an electrode assembly. The electrode assembly includes a plurality of electrodes positioned along the shaft near the distal end, proximal to the tip member. The electrodes are spaced apart from each other along a longitudinal axis and are operable to apply RF energy to tissue to thereby ablate the tissue.

摘要: Devices, systems and methods are provided for delivering pulsed electric field (PEF) energy to tissue through one or more energy delivery bodies, each having one or more electrodes. The PEF energy is generated from a waveform having a variety of features. Waveform delays, such as inter-pulse delays, inter-cycle delays, inter-phase delays, inter-packet delays, inter-bundle delays, may be utilized within a treatment to obtain a desired outcome. In particular, these delays may be specifically manipulated to obtain particular desired outcomes. For example, one, some or all of these delays may be manipulated to control various aspects of PEF therapy so as to mitigate any associated risks, such as gas formation, electrical discharge, cavity formation, muscle contraction, and temperature rise, to name a few. In some embodiments, the delays distribute the period over which PEF energy is delivered, resulting in marked changes and optimization to the treatment delivery outcomes.
