Abstract: A catheter (10) for introduction into a body vessel includes a shaft, a balloon (12) positioned at the distal end of the shaft, and at least one scoring wire (30) to score a vascular lesion. A distal end portion of the scoring wire is detachably connected to the catheter, such as by way of magnetic coupling (30a), thereby allowing for selective use of the catheter in a scoring or non-scoring configuration. The balloon expands when fluid is delivered to the balloon through an inflation lumen. This expansion pushes the scoring wire against the vascular lesion.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a tissue-removing catheter that includes an elongate body with proximal and distal end portions, a tissue-removing element, an inner liner, and a coupling assembly. The tissue-removing element removes tissue by rotation from the elongate body. The inner liner defines a guidewire lumen received within the elongate body and is coupled to the tissue-removing element at its distal end portion. The coupling assembly includes a bushing attached to the distal end portion of the inner liner and a bearing disposed around the bushing with an exterior surface of the bushing contacting an interior surface of the bearing along less than 50% of an internal surface area of the interior surface of the bearing. At least one of the exterior surface of the bushing and the interior surface of the bearing may define a non-uniform dimension extending along a length of one of the bushing and bearing.

Abstract: An access catheter has a cannulated guiding rail extending therethrough, and an advance segment of the rail extending at least about 10 cm beyond the distal end of the access catheter. The access catheter and rail are advanceable over a guidewire until the distal end of the advance segment is at a target vascular site. The access catheter is thereafter advanceable along the rail to the target vascular site, and the rail may be removed leaving the access catheter to provide access to the target vascular site. A clot evacuation catheter is extendable through the access catheter, and a thrombus engagement tool is advanceable through the clot evacuation catheter.

Abstract: An intravascular apparatus includes an electrical circuit configured to generate a series of electrical pulses. An intravascular catheter includes an elongate catheter body having a distal end portion and a distal end at a distal terminus of the distal end portion. A solenoid-type reciprocating device is located at the distal end portion of the elongate catheter body. The solenoid-type reciprocating device has a coil and a distal tip member. The coil is electrically coupled to the electrical circuit. The distal tip member has a proximal armature section and a distal working end section. The coil defines a coil aperture that is configured to slidably receive the proximal armature section. The proximal armature section is configured to axially reciprocate relative to the coil when the coil is energized.

Abstract: Systems and methods for treating a stricture, for example along the biliary and/or pancreatic tract, are disclosed. An example system may include a handle (14) having a base, a first carriage (26) translatable relative to the base, and a second carriage (24) translatable relative to the base. A sheath (16) may be coupled to the first carriage. The system may also include a catheter shaft (12) having a proximal end region and a steerable distal end region. The proximal end region may be coupled to the second carriage. A needle may be releasably coupled to the handle. The needle may be configured to pass through tissue into a position along the biliary and/or pancreatic tract. The system may also include a steering member (44) having a first end coupled to the steerable distal end region of the catheter shaft and a second end disposed adjacent to the handle.

Abstract: An intravascular emboli capture and retrieval system for intravascular embolism protection and embolism removal or maceration. Guidewire mounted proximally and distally located multiple opening filters are deployed within the vasculature and used to part, divide and macerate embolic debris and to capture such embolic debris within the confines thereof. A deployable flexible preformed memory shaped capture sleeve is alternatively used to collapse one or more filters and embolic debris therein for subsequent proximal withdrawal from the vasculature.

An example system may include a guidewire having a distal end and defining a lumen. A stiffening rod may be slidably disposed within the lumen. The stiffening rod may have a distal end and a distal end region disposed adjacent to the distal end. The stiffening rod may be configured to shift between a first position where the distal end of the stiffening rod is disposed proximally of the distal end of the guidewire and a second position where the distal end of the stiffening rod is disposed distally of the distal end of the guidewire.

Abstract: A catheter system for forming a fistula between two adjacent blood vessels. The catheter system comprises a crossing catheter (110) for introduction into a blood vessel. The crossing catheter has a distal end section and an inflatable balloon (120) disposed in the distal end section for stabilizing the crossing catheter in the blood vessel. The catheter system further comprises a penetration tool (130) for penetrating vessel walls of two adjacent blood vessels to form the fistula. The penetration tool is disposed within the crossing catheter and is movable between a retracted position and an advanced position. In the inflated state, the inflatable balloon (120) comprises at least one blood bypass structure (121) for allowing blood to flow past the inflated balloon.
