Abstract: A sample collection container configured to be removably mounted to a blood collection device includes a container body and a lid. The container body defines an interior configured to receive a sample provided from the blood collection device. The container body includes an upper portion having an open top and a lower portion having a closed bottom. The lid includes: a lid body; a flexible connection connected between the lid body and the upper portion of the container body that moves the lid between a closed position and an open position; a pierceable septum mounted to the lid body that seals the upper portion open top when the lid is in the closed position; and a latch. The latch extends from the lid body and engages a catch on the upper portion of the container body to secure the lid in the closed position.
