Abstract:
A technique is provided capable of favorably preventing generation of a shrinkage cavity in solidification of molten metal poured into a casting mold, and increasing accuracy of an assembling position of a core to a mold, in casting a caliper. A caliper casting device for casting a caliper for a disc brake including a cylinder into which a piston is fitted, and a rotor housing surface that defines a space for housing a disc rotor, includes: a mold; and a core placed in the mold, the mold having a rotor housing surface forming portion that forms a part of the rotor housing surface after casting, and the core being positioned and held in the rotor housing surface forming portion during casting, and forming a part of the rotor housing surface together with the rotor housing surface forming portion after casting.

Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is a universal slide assembly for molding or casting systems used to introduce complex designs to moldings and castings, which is cost effective, easy to install and easy to operate, and includes a base, a slide and a cam lever. The base is directly insertable into a movable-die half for immediate use without requiring the slide to be individually designed or adapted to a particular movable-die half. The cam lever is capable of moving the slide towards and away from a core without the use of hydraulic power, through cam action.
Abstract:
A fiber reinforced porous preform (58) is positioned within a die cavity (55) defined by upper and lower die members (48, 52), and the lower die member (52) defines at least one gate opening (62) in the center portion of a water cooled shot sleeve (15) which receives a vertically moveable shot piston (18). The area of the gate opening is small relative to the area of the shot sleeve, and the lower die member defines an annular recess (65) above the inner surface of the shot sleeve for entrapping a shell of pre-solidified metal. Air vent slots (68) extend outwardly between the shot sleeve and lower die member and are closed by the shell of pre-solidified metal. In one embodiment, the shot sleeve (15') and shot piston (18') are non-circular or oval in cross-section; and the lower die member (52') has a plurality of longitudinally space gate openings (62').

Abstract:
A mould is described for producing modular elements of bimetal radiators, i.e. which are provided with an insert constituting the steel inner core and an aluminium radiant outer coating. The mould is designed for making the modular elements by die- casting, and is constituted by two mould halves that can be closed one against the other in order to negatively define the cast or impression to produce. Advantageously, with respect to known solutions the mould of the present invention differs by having four casts or impressions rather than the conventional two, and a retaining system to retain the metal inserts on board of the same mould half provided with the system for ejecting the modular elements. This allows automating the moulding process and doubling the productivity.
