Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacturing metal powders comprising: i) feeding an atomization chamber of a gas atomizer with molten metal, (ii) atomizing the molten metal by injection of gas so as to form metal particles, (iii) transferring the metal particles from the atomization chamber to a cooling chamber of the gas atomizer, (iv) cooling the metal particles in the cooling chamber by injecting gas from the bottom of the cooling chamber so as to form a bubbling fluidized bed of metal particles. The invention also relates to the gas atomizer thereof.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a material system for three-dimensional printing, which includes (a) a liquid binder comprising a material polymerizable by free radical polymerization and (b) a powder composition comprising a first type of polymer particles and a second type of polymer particles, which are different from each other and each comprise an initiator for a free radical polymerization reaction, wherein the first type of polymer particles are swellable or dissolvable in the liquid binder at room temperature and thereby release contained initiator for a first free radical polymerization of the polymerizable material, and wherein the second type of polymer particles release additional initiator upon contact with the liquid binder at elevated temperatures above 40°C for a further radical polymerization of the polymerizable material. Such material system enables to prepare articles by 3D printing which have good green body strength and form stability upon curing at elevated temperatures. The final cured three-dimensional articles have mechanical properties, which render them suitable for end use applications.

Abstract: To identify and/or assess structural integrity of a composite material (400) comprising fiduciary markers (410) which attenuate x-rays to an extent greater than the rest of the material, a method is provided wherein x-ray 3D tomosynthesis images of the composite material are created using an array of x-ray emitters and a digital x-ray detector wherein the array of x-ray emitters and the digital x-ray detector are maintained in fixed relation to one another and to the composite material, the 3D tomosynthesis images being used to determine the relative location of at least some of the fiduciary markers with respect to one another; a database is provided for storing the relative location of at least some of the fiduciary markers with respect to one another, further x-ray 3D tomosynthesis images of the same, or a different, composite material may be checked against the data in the database to ascertain structural integrity and/or identity of the material.
