Provided is a process for thermoforming a gas and liquid permeable layer of thermoplastic material (12, 32) having an average thickness of less than 0.50 mm, the process comprising the steps of bringing the layer into contact with a layer of deformable non-gas permeable material (10, 30) to form a separable laminate of the two materials, arranging for the thermoplastic material to be at a thermoformable temperature and thermoforming the separable laminate, thereby thermoforming the thermoplastic material.

An aircraft trim panel structure includes a thermoplastic resinated quadraxial fiberglass lay-up prepreg first open structure skin layer having at least a 28 % open area. A thermoplastic resinated quadraxial fiberglass lay-up prepreg second open structure skin layer has at least a 28 % open area. An open structure core layer having at least a 28 % open area is sandwiched between the first open structure skin layer and the second open structure skin layer. The first open structure skin layer, the second open structure skin layer and the open structure core layer are formed into a three dimensional shape corresponding to the aircraft trim panel.

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a moulding from a plastic, preferably a fibre-reinforced plastic, which method comprises at least the steps of stacking at least one plastic layer to form a laminate; arranging the laminate between at least two membranes; bringing the thus formed assembly to a first temperature by heating at least one membrane; forming the assembly by making use of a shaping tool brought to a second temperature. The invention also relates to a device for performing the method and a beatable membrane to be applied in the method.

Le procédé de fabrication de toiles formées et renforcées consiste à la fabrication d'une toile en continu alterné avec une membrane (34) enrobant des éléments de renforcement qui est préparée par portions et en chevauchement les uns par rapport aux autres sur une bande de transport (29) qui passe sur une table de préparation (25). La membrane (34) et les éléments de renforcement sont ensuite placés sous une presse qui est constituée par une cuve supérieure (1) qui est remplie d'air et dont la partie inférieure est constituée par un élément souple (4) et une cuve inférieure (14) qui est remplie d'eau et dont la partie supérieure est constituée par un élément souple (17). Une latte de formage (10) est montée réglable dans la cuve supérieure (1). Lorsque la latte de formage (10) est réglée selon une forme, les différents éléments peuvent se déformer à l'endroit de la latte de formage et la membrane et les éléments de renforcement sont pressés à chaud avec une portion correspondant à la latte de formage dont la forme est en trois dimensions, déterminant ainsi la forme de la toile qui est fabriquée.

The invention is a new procedure for making glass frames obtained from boards (T) made of a plastic or composite material, comprising one step for deforming a pre-heated single- layer or multilayer board (T) on one or two curvature planes (X, Y) transverse to each other, and wherein said deformation step is carried out before the board (T) is milled to create the shape of the glass frame. The equipment suited to implement the procedure that is the subject of the invention comprises a half-mould (S) and an element (B) for closing the upper opening of the half-mould (S), with deformable membrane (M), and wherein the injection of air (W) in said air space (C) causes the expansion of said deformable membrane (M) that compresses a board (T) against said half-mould (S), thus deforming it in a corresponding way.

This invention relates to a novel apparatus and process for producing thermoplastic articles. In one aspect, the invention pertains to a process for manufacturing fiberglass products using a fiberglass material consisting of fiberglass strands commingled with heat-formable polypropylene strands. A molding apparatus comprising: (a) an air pressure chamber (4) with an open side; (b) a flange plate (6) fitted to the open side of the air pressure chamber, said flange plate having an opening therein for receiving a mold; (c) an upper bladder (8) associated with the flange plate and covering the opening; (d) a base pressure plate (18); (e) a mold (16) positioned on the base pressure plate; and (f) a locking mechanism for securing the air pressure chamber with the base pressure plate, and balanced air pressure in each chamber during molding.
