Abstract:
An Illustration Book for Visually impaired persons with simplified raised outline illustrations. Specifications of raised outline illustrations are disclosed. Method of developing illustration sheets containing these illustrations and a device for printing such illustration sheets in computerized environment are also disclosed. A Blind or Visually Impaired (VI) user of this illustration book would be able to relate to the illustrations therein natively, understand easily, enjoy the process and connect with the real world better.
Abstract:
Printed products, printing methods and methods for verifying authenticity of a printed product are provided. In one aspect, the printed product has a receiver and an image formed thereon by an electrophotographic process using toner particles, said image having at least one raised portion, wherein at least parts of said raised portion of said image comprise phosphorescent or fluorescent toner particles.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A composition comprising a mixture of a thermographic compound and a compound capable of undergoing a change in at least one optical property upon application of a stimulus is described. Also described are a printed image precursor comprising a substrate on at least a portion of which is coated such a composition, a method of manufacturing a printed image precursor and a method of manufacturing a printed image.
Abstract:
A security document is disclosed, comprising first and second security devices, a document substrate, and a protective layer formed of a cured, at least semi- transparent material on a first surface of the document substrate. The surface of the protective layer distal to the document substrate has an integral surface relief structure. The first security device is defined by the surface relief in a first region of the surface relief structure, the second security device is provided at the first surface of the document substrate, and the protective layer covers the second security device.
Abstract:
A security device is provided, comprising one or more surface relief structure(s), each formed of one or more cured material(s), the surface relief structure(s) being disposed on a substantially flat substrate and defining a plurality of raised elements spaced from one another, the raised elements corresponding to elements of an image, whereby the plurality of raised elements varies across the surface relief structure(s) so as to exhibit a multi-tonal version of the image. Methods of manufacturing such devices are also disclosed.
Abstract:
It is described a method for producing a laminar male die(l) of the interchangeable type, for printing Braille characters (4) on yielding supports. The method comprises the step of punching the metal foil (2) that forms the body of the male die to obtain a plurality of first points in relief (3) on a first face of the foil. The first points define one or more characters in Braille alphabet. The method comprises the further step of punching the metal foil to obtain at least two second points ( 5,6, 7,8) in relief on the other side of the foil; the second points in relief are aligned with corresponding receiving seats of an outer male die-holding support. A male die obtained with the previous method and the respective manufacturing apparatus are also described.
Abstract:
Curable ink deposits are printed onto a substrate in a predetermined pattern (e.g. screen printed). The curable ink comprises one or more monofunctional and/or multifunctional curable acrylates, wherein the individual monofunctional and/or multifunctional curable acrylates contributing up to 80% by weight of the ink have viscosities below 10,000 cP at 25°C, a low viscosity acrylate contributing to at least 10% by weight of the curable ink and a rheological additive. The curable ink deposits are then heated (optional) and cured (e.g. by exposing them to ultraviolet light, for UV-curable ink deposits). Preferably, intaglio calendering/printing is then applied to the substrate sheet, whereby a high pressure is applied to press the cured ink deposits into the substrate, creating protrusions of the substrate on the opposite side of the ink deposits. The ink may comprise a taggant for use as a security feature.
Abstract:
The invention relates to special or security paper comprising internal touch recognition elements, which is suitable for use as legal tender or for any other type of document requiring means for facilitating touch recognition or preventing counterfeiting. The invention comprises a sheet of paper (1) containing inserted expanding agents (2) which may be centred in relation to the thickness of the sheet of paper or positioned close to the upper face and/or lower face of the sheet (1), such as to form a figure or legend. According to the invention, pressure and heat are applied to the aforementioned expanding agents, either as the paper is being produced or during subsequent processes, thereby causing the sheet (1) to expand and forming a curved, continuous relief (3) on the surface of the document.
