Abstract: There is provided a capacity variable viscous heater in which its capacity is positively reduced and which prevents reduction in heat generating efficiency after a service life of a long-term use. For instance, a control chamber (9) is disposed in a rear housing (6) that communicates with a central area of a heat generating chamber (7) and in which its internal volume can be increased or decreased. Silicone oil in the heat generating chamber (7) increases the internal volume of the control chamber (9) by virtue of Weissenberg effect when reducing the capacity with a rotor (14) kept rotating. This recovers the silicone oil in the heat generating chamber (7), whereby the heating capacity is reduced.

Abstract: A variable capacity viscous heater whose capacity is reliably decreased and whose heating efficiency does not lower even after a long term use. Formed are, for example, a recovery passage (3a) communicating with the central area of a heating chamber (10) and capable of being opened and closed, a supply passage (3c) communicating with the lower portion of the heating chamber (10), and a control chamber (CR) communicating with the recovery passage (3a) and the supply passage (3c). Silicone oil in the heating chamber (10) is recovered by use of the Weissenberg effect into the control chamber (CR) through the recovery passage (3a), which is open, to decrease the capacity. Silicone oil in the control chamber (CR) is fed into the heating chamber (10) through the supply passage (3c) to increase the capacity.

Abstract: A device is disclosed for heating the seating compartment (10) of a motor vehicle. The heating compartment has a heating circuit connected to a coolant circuit (14) of the internal combustion engine (16).
