Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved phenolic furan resin composition with reduced flammability and to a pre-impregnated fiber-reinforced composite material. The invention also relates to the use of pre-impregnated fiber-reinforced composite material as a chimney liner. The object of the invention was to develop a composite system with improved heat resistance, which means that, with its reduced flammability, it not only prevents the propagation of possible fire, but also does not damage and maintains its mechanical properties at a sufficiently high temperature. In the composition of the present invention, the use of additives and fillers, also known as components such as glass fiber, glass beads, boron compounds, for other composite materials, for use as flame retardants and relative proportions of the sodium methasilicates (especially its pen- tahydrate) and melamine derivatives according to the invention increases the flame-retardant effect significantly.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition comprising: at least one binder chosen from phenolic resins, and particles formed from at least one pulverulent solid chosen from glass, polymers and silica, and mixtures thereof, said particles having an average size of less than 1 mm, characterized in that it comprises between 34% and 50% by weight of said pulverulent material relative to the total weight of said composition. The invention extends to a sandwich composite material comprising such a composition and to a process for preparing such a sandwich composite material.
Abstract:
