Abstract: A modular incubator includes a housing including one or more fastening mechanisms for attachment to a workstation frame, a platform located at the housing and defining a sample placement area, and a chamber wall structure coupled to the platform. The chamber wall structure is pivotable between a closed position against the platform to form a sample chamber and an open position in which a front end of the chamber wall structure is spaced apart from the platform to allow access to the sample placement area. The modular incubator further includes a lid coupled to and openable from the chamber wall structure to expose at least a portion of the chamber wall structure for viewing.

Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft die Produktion von Mikroalgenbiomasse. Die in einer Suspension aus Wasser und Mikroalgen enthaltenen Mikroalgen werden in einem von der Suspension mehrfach passierten, einen Gasteil (2) und einen Flüssigkeitsteil mit einem Flüssigkeitsvorrat (3) aufweisenden Kultivierungsmodul (1) unter Zufuhr von Licht mindestens einer künstlichen Lichtquelle (5) und von Nährstoffen in einem kontinuierlichen Umlauf phototroph oder mixotroph kultiviert. In Abhängigkeit der sensorisch festgestellten Trübung werden wiederholt Volumenanteile der Suspension zur Ernte von Mikroalgen aus dem Kultivierungsmodul (1) ausgeschleust sowie mittels einer Zentrifuge (7) ausgeschleudert. Die Kultivierung der Mikroalgen erfolgt in einer das Kultivierungsmodul (1) ausbildenden Klimakammer, welche wasserwirtschaftlich betrieben wird. Neben einer Regulierung der Temperatur der Suspension erfolgen eine Regulierung ihres pH-Werts durch gesteuerte Zugabe von Pufferionen und eine Regulierung des Redoxpotentials der Suspension und damit ihrer mikrobiellen Kontamination durch eine Steuerung der Licht- und Nährstoffzufuhr sowie einer Zudosierung von Sauerstoff. Zudem wird nach dem Ausschleudern von Mikroalgen verbleibende Suspension vor ihrer Rückführung in das Kultivierungsmodul (1) zur Abtötung unerwünschter mikrobieller Kontaminationen mit UV-Licht bestrahlt wird.
