    摘要: This invention relates to paper sizing compositions comprised of at least one sizing agent selected from ASA, AKD and rosin where the at least one sizing agent is emulsified in water, at least one emulsion stabilizer, and from about 0.01% to about 15% by weight of at least one hydrophobic substance, based on the total weight of sizing agent present, provided that the hydrophobic substance is not highly alkoxylated. The sizing promotion efficiency of the paper sizing compositions, as determined by at least one method selected from the Cytec size testing method, the Hercules size testing method, and the Cobb size testing method, is greater than or equal to about 4. Exemplary hydrophobic substances include fatty acid esters, triglycerides, hydrocarbons, esters and/or amides derived from ASA, silicone oils, alcohols, and stearic anhydride. The invention also relates to methods for sizing paper products with these paper sizing compositions and paper or paperboard treated with these sizing compositions.

    摘要: A sizing composition and a method of sizing a cellulosic fibre material, such as paper, board or paper board, are described. The sizing composition comprises an aqueous dispersion of a rosin material and is characterised in that it also contains (a) 0.05-20 % by weight, based on the dry weight of the composition of a dicarboxylic acid derivative with the general formula (I): R1OOC-Q-COOR2; where R1 and R2 which are the same or different represent H, M, where M is a metal of Groups IA or IIA, or a straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 1-30 carbon atoms; Q represents (i) R3 which is a straight alkylene group or alkenylene group of the formula: -CnH2n-2z-, where n = 0-12 and z = 0-3; (ii) Formula (II), where R3 is as defined above and R4 is a straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 1-30 carbon atoms; with the proviso that the compound of formula (I) includes at least 6 and at most 34 carbon atoms in total; and (b) an aluminium compound which is selected from the group consisting of: aluminium sulphate; aluminium polymers of the general formula (III): [Al(OH)x(A)(3-x)]n; aluminium polymers of the general formula (IV): [Al(OH)x(H3PO4)y (A)(3-x)]n; where A = Cl , NO3 , HCOO , CH3COO ; aluminium polymers of the general formula (V): [Al(OH)x(SO4)(3-x)/2]n; aluminium polymers of the general formula (VI): [Al(OH)x(H3PO4)y (SO4)(3-x)/2]n; where "x" is in the range 0.03 to 2.7, "y" in the range 0.01 to 0.8 and n ≥ 2; and mixtures of these. According to the method the sizing composition is added to a cellulosic fibre material in an amount of 0.01-10 % by weight, calculated as dry sizing agent on dry cellulosic fibres.

    摘要: Aqueous paper sizing dispersions for internal and surface sizing contain colophonium resins or compounds derived from colophonium resins, a minimum amount of an anionic, cationic or non-ionic emulsifier, a subsequently added polymer for stabilising the dispersion, an optional aluminium-ion-containing fixator, an optional synthetic sizing agent and an optional extender. These new dispersions are suitable for finishing paper and cardboard. Also disclosed is a process for producing these aqueous paper sizing dispersions characterised in that during a first stage, a metastable dispersion of a colophonium resin or compound derived therefrom is prepared with a minimum amount of a synthetic emulsifier, this dispersion is immediately cooled, then converted at low temperatures with a polymer solution or dispersion into a stable dispersion.

    摘要: The invention relates to the use of an aqueous sizing dispersion containing a cellulose-reactive sizing agent and a hydrophobically modified dispersing agent for sizing cellulosic fibres by addition of the sizing dispersion to a stock containing cellulosic fibres, and optional fillers, and dewatering the stock on a wire to obtain a web containing cellulosic fibres, wherein the stock has a cationic demand of at least 50 νeq/litre stock filtrate.
