In some embodiments, provided herein are tissue paper articles and/or methods of making the same that increase the strength of the tissue paper article and/or maintain or increase the softness of the tissue paper article.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for improving sizing efficiency of an ASA sizing agent in a paper-making process. In particular, the invention comprises: sizing a pulp slurry by using the polymer emulsifier emulsified ASA emulsion as sizing agent, and adding, as a paper-making filler, paper-making filler particles modified by a hydroxyl-containing hydrocarbon natural polymer polysaccharide compound to the pulp slurry.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a multi-ply paperboard for packaging of liquid and/or food products, which paperboard comprises a top ply, a back ply and at least one middle ply arranged between said top and back ply. The invention is characterized in that the back ply is made of unbleached hardwood pulp to 100% by weight, calculated on the total fiber weight of said back ply. It has surprisingly been found that the use of unbleached pulp in the back ply makes it possible to use 100% hardwood fibers in the back ply, calculated on the total fiber weight of the back ply, and still achieve a high quality board with an acceptable strength and bending resistance.
Abstract:
A method of producing an aqueous dispersion of a pigment, and the aqueous dispersion of the pigment and the uses of the aqueous dispersion of the pigment. In the present method, an inorganic pigment is dispersed in water, in the presence of a dispersing agent. According to the present invention, the inorganic pigment comprises cationic calcium carbonate, especially precipitated calcium carbonate, which is dispersed using a cationic biopolymer, such as starch, in order to prepare an aqueous dispersion, the solids content of which is approximately 30-75 % by weight. The dispersion generated can be used, among others, as pigment or filler for ink-jet paper.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a papermaking agent system in liquid form, which comprises (i) cationic starch solution, prepared by cooking a starch mixture comprising a starch component and a water component, and (ii) polymer composition, which has anionic and cationic groups and a cationic net charge of > 0.1 meq/g. The polymer composition comprises or originates from at least one of constituents a), b) or c). Constituent a) contains an amphoteric polymer, which is a copolymer comprising structural units derived from acrylamide and/or methacrylamide monomers, and anionic and cationic groups attached to the copolymer. Constituent b) contains a first polymer, which is a copolymer comprising structural units derived from acrylamide and/or methacrylamide monomers, and anionic or cationic groups attached to the copolymer, as well as a second polymer, which comprises groups with opposite charge than the first polymer. Constituent c) contains a third polymer, which comprises a copolymer comprising structural units derived from acrylamide and/or methacrylamide monomers, as well as hydrolytically unstable cationic groups attached to the copolymer. Constituent a), b) or c) is added to one of the components of the starch mixture or to the starch mixture before the cooking of the starch mixture, and/or constituent a) or b) is added to the cationic starch solution after cooking of the starch mixture. The invention relates also to the use of the papermaking agent system and to a method for its preparation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for treating a fibre stock for making of paper, board or the like. The method comprises obtaining a fibre thick stock and adding to the fibre thick stock at least one cationic first agent, and adding separately to the fibre stock and after the addition of the cationic first agent, at least one anionic second agent, which is an water-soluble anionic copolymer of acrylamide, methacrylamide or acrylonitrile, in such amount that the ratio of the added absolute cationic charge to the added absolute anionic charge is from 1:0.1 to 1:0.95. The invention relates also to the product prepared by using a fibre stock, which is treated by using the method.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a process for preparing self-binding pigment particles from an aqueous suspension of a calcium carbonate containing material, wherein an anionic binder and at least one cationic polymer are mixed with the suspension.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a fixative composition and process for reducing hydrophobic and/or anionic substances in fibre-containing stock for making of paper, board or the like. The composition comprises a synthetic cationic polymer, which has a charge density of 3.0 - 24 meq/g, and a cationic non-degraded starch, which has charge density of 0.5 – 3.0 meq/g. The invention relates also to thick stock composition comprising fibres and a fixative composition according to the invention.
Abstract:
The starch composition comprises a cationic, cross-linked starch that is partly swollen and partly gelatinized. It has a gelatinization coefficient gT smaller than 0.7 with T the jet cooking temperature. The starch composition suitably comprises a wheat starch or a blend of a wheat starch and another starch, for instance a root or tuber starch.
Abstract:
A stable aqueous composition comprising poiyvinylamine and liquid cationic starch a ratio of from 90 to 55 parts of poiyvinylamine on active basis to 10 to 45 parts of liquid cationic starch on active basis is disclosed. The composition can be used in papermaking as a strength or as a drainage aid.
