A method of enhancing mixing, mass transfer and heat transfer comprising the pinched pipe flow reactor is further disclosed.

The present invention relates to a heat exchanger wherein heat transmission between heating water passing through the inside of a heat exchange pipe and combustion gas is carried out efficiently. The heat exchanger comprises: a plurality of heat exchange pipes through which heating water passes, having a flat tubular cross section with opened ends; 1st and 2nd fixing plates having pipe insertion holes which are spaced from each other at regular intervals in the longitudinal direction, wherein both side ends of each heat exchange pipes are inserted into the pipe insertion holes; 1st and 2nd parallel flow path caps respectively fixed to the 1st and 2nd fixing plates and forming parallel flow paths by closing the both side ends of the heat exchange pipes; a heating water inlet connected to the 1st parallel flow path cap; and a heating water outlet connected to one of the 1st and 2nd parallel flow path caps. The cross section of the heat exchange pipe is in the shape wherein concave and convex portions are alternately repeated in the width direction of the heat exchange pipe to extend a flow path of the combustion gas which passes between the heat exchange pipes.

The surface texturing and corrugations may also provide a heat exchanger element that promotes internal mixing of fluids that flow by and through the element. Increased internal mixing and increased surface area of an element may allow the heat exchanger element to have a high heat transfer coefficient. A heat exchanger element (30) or heat exchanger elements may be assembled into a heat exchanger that has a high overall heat transfer coefficient. Ends of the heat exchanger element may be pointed to facilitate attachment of the element to a support structure.
