Abstract:
This invention relates to a method of processing color photographic film that has been imagewise exposed in a camera, said film having at least three light-sensitive units which have their individual sensitivities in different wavelength regions, each of the units comprising at least one light-sensitive silver-halide emulsion, binder, and dye-providing coupler, which method in order comprises (a) thermally developing the film step without any externally applied developing agent, comprising heating said film to a temperature greater than 80 DEG C in an essentially dry process, such that an internally located blocked developing agent in reactive association with each of said three light-sensitive units becomes unblocked to form a developing agent, whereby the unblocked developing agent forms dyes by reacting with the dye-providing couplers to form a color image; (b) scanning the color image in the film without desilvering; (c) desilvering said film in one or more desilvering solutions to remove at least silver halide, thereby forming an improved color image suitable for scanning or optical printing, and (d) either optically printing or scanning the color image in the film following desilvering. In one embodiment of the invention, the film is scanned a first time in step (b) to obtain a relatively low quality scan and then scanned a second time after step (c) to obtain a relatively high quality scan that is used for making the positive image print.
Abstract:
A method of making a colored contact lens comprises printing at least one layer of a colorant onto a contact lens using a printing process selected from the group consisting of ink jet printing, electrophotographic printing, thermal transfer, and photographic development. Printing can be done directly on the contact lens, on a film in a mold where the contact lens is formed, or on a cliché pad. Multiple layers of colorants can be printed onto a contact lens.
Abstract:
A light sensitive silver halide color photographic element having a common chromogenic coupler and a distinct developer associated with each color forming layer unit is disclosed. In a first embodiment, the light sensitive silver halide color photographic element has a red light sensitive silver halide layer unit and a first blocked coupling developer, a green light sensitive silver halide layer unit and a second blocked coupling developer and a blue light sensitive silver halide layer unit having a third blocked coupling developer and wherein each layer unit has the same chromogenic coupler. In a second embodiment, the light sensitive silver halide color photographic element has a red light sensitive silver halide layer unit and a first blocked coupling developer, a green light sensitive silver halide layer unit and a second blocked coupling developer, and a blue light sensitive silver halide layer unit having a third blocked coupling developer. By means of the present invention, light sensitive color photothermographic elements can form yellow, magenta and cyan dye records of consistent density forming ability and conistent stability in all three color records. The present invention also relates to a novel blocked phenylenediamine developer useful in the imaging elements according to the present invention.
Abstract:
The invention relates to color photographic materials used for color image recording in the visible and infrared regions. The inventive material consists of a polymer base on one side of which an ant-halo backing is coated and at least two light-sensitive layers are coated on the other side. A light-sensitive layer is made from silver bromide-iodide emulsion containing microcrystals with octahedral or flattened faces or mixture thereof and with grains ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 mu m. One light-sensitive layer (in case of two or more layers) comprises an infrachromatic sensitizing polymethine dye corresponding to formula (I) cited in the description. The other light-sensitive layer comprises more than one orthochromatic polymethine dye of formula (II) cited in the description. The third light-sensitive layer, if any, comprises polymethine dye of formula (III) cited in the description. Auxiliary gelatin layer containing a hardener are applied between the light-sensitive layers. As a hardener preferably triazine-1,3,5 is used. This material possesses a high photographic sensitivity and resolving power.
Abstract:
One aspect of the invention is a digital dye color film processing system. In one embodiment, the digital dye color film processing system includes a developer station, a processing station, a scanning system, and a data processing system. The developer station applies a developer solution to a silver halide based film to produce metallic silver grains and at least one dye image within the film. The processing station then applies at least one processing solution to the film to substantially oxidize the metallic silver grains and to substantially dissolve the silver halide within the film. In the preferred embodiment, neither the developer solution nor the processing solutions are removed from the film. The scanning system then scans the coated film and produces sensor data that is communicated to a data processing system that processes the sensor data to produce a digital image. The digital image can then be output to an output device, such as a printer, display monitor, memory device, and the like.
Abstract:
The invention provides a photographic element comprising at least one emulsion layer comprising at least 50 mol% silver chloride, which layer comprises at least one DIR coupler in association with at least one image dye-forming coupler, characterised in that the relative reactivity ratio krel of at least one DIR coupler and an associated image coupler is less than or equal to 1.0, wherein krel = k1/k2; k1 = the second order rate constant for the reaction of DIR coupler with oxidised developer and k2 = the second order rate constant for the reaction of image coupler with oxidised developer. The DIR couplers when associated with image couplers such that the above condition is satisfied efficiently reduce development of silver halide emulsions containing at least 50 mol% silver chloride, there being a reduction in contrast providing a linear sensitometric curve over a good latitude with negligible speed penalty.
